2023's in U.S. owners hands
Just wondering if anyone has taken delivery of a '23 Z yet. I'm expecting mine somewhere around the first of the year. It arrived in Baltimore on Thursday. Thanks,

Still sitting in Baltimore, I check the status at least 3 times a day. Maybe I'll have it by the end of next week. I haven't heard of anyone getting their '23 Z yet.

Have you checked the recall tool to see if it is waiting for parts?

I've checked cars dot com and not even a single dealer picture yet on 2023. Why is it sooo late. It's probably the last 2023 model of any brand to be delivered. Youtube doesn't have a single video yet of the 2023 either, and the reviewers who reviewed 2023 model also didn't have any videos of it. It's so strange

That's a good thing. At least it isn't waiting for parts.

Call the expert line or whatever BMW calls it. They can give you an update.

Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t think they can tell me anymore than I can get from MyBMW? I called the dealer a few days ago and he said just what I saw on MyBMW. I wonder if the storm the country went through has anything to do with it.

The BMW genius line does seem to have more info (or at least has it sooner) than the dealer. They always knew the status of my car before the dealer and before the MyBMW site did. They could also tell me about recall info and that the build was clean and didn’t need anything at port - MyBMW can’t tell you that info.

It seems like, from my experience and others on this forum, that BMW genius knowledge about what is going on with a build is hit or miss. Some people have receive timely and good information and others (like me) didn't have such a good experience.
My Z4 moved into Quality Check on 09-06-2021 and didn't move into Ready for Transport until 10-18-2021 and no one was able to tell me anything about the reason. Most likely it was the parts shortage, but good customer relations would have them telling me that. Also, my car was showing at port in CA when my dealer called me to tell me the car had arrived at the dealership. Not sure why the large difference with the Genius experience, but it looks to me like BMW needs to improve their communications with its customers. That being said, my X5 started production on 12/21/2022 and is still in Production begins status. I'm guessing it is because of the holidays, but I can't get any conformation of that from BMW Genius or MyBMW and my dealership can't either. Maybe its just my bad luck, but I still think BMW needs to improve it communications with its customers.

I was able to get more like the name of the ship & why the car had a hold on it.

I had the name of the ship and tracked it all the way. The problem now is it’s been “at port” for nearly two weeks. Probably the holidays. Hope it’s released next week.

My M4C was head at the port for 10 days on a missing part right around Thanksgiving last year. Had it 4 days after it got on the truck. One day was killed when dealer had to program the installed part.

My car arrived at the dealership last night. Went through PDI and detail today. Transporter picking up tomorrow. They say they will deliver Sunday or Monday. This whole process started in October, I’m ahead of schedule.

The dealer is in Sterling VA. My CA is Mac Safi, I’m very pleased with his attention. I would highly recommend.

IIRC, this is about a 12-13 hour drive, mostly on I-95. Did you ever consider flying up to Dulles International Airport and driving your new baby home?

No, not really. I drove the 850 from West Palm to Ohio, but hate putting a brand new car on 75-80mph for hours on end. I know things have changed with new cars, but I like to vary my break in speed. I may actually keep this one for a while.

Regarding the 1200 mile break-in period, don't forget that you need to keep the revs below 4500 RPM's and avoid gunning the engine. I did mine in Comfort mode as Sport mode sets the RPM's higher. |
