The used car prices have really dropped nationwide. Have you considered a CPO M40i with low mileage?

Yes, but used APR is like 6% and sometimes higher. Understand my 30i right now is being financed at .99%. lol Being as I just got a new job, I haven't even got my first pay check yet, so I'm planning on seeing about putting my order in March time frame. Another thing is... it'll be something I hold on forever... finally get everything I want in the car i love.... I want it to be my forever car.

I held onto a Mercedes CLK500 convertible for almost 18 years. I garaged it in NYC and it never saw any snow or ice. When I moved to Florida and parked outdoors I used a great car cover to protect it and it only had been driven 37,000 miles. My mechanic in Florida said that I had kept it in amazing condition and as I had performed every service ever required. My wife even claimed that I loved the car more than her.

Guess what, one day my "Forever" car was replaced by a beautiful blue roadster!

My wife is frugal, asian and an accountant who grew up poor. If I do this.... she's gonna bury me in it! Sooner... more likely than later.

I quit saying “forever car” a long time ago. As much as I might feel that way at the time, something always comes along that I must have.

My Z4 was the "must have." Sure there are alot of things out there that I'd like to have. An actual M car. C8 Corvette... not too much else tbh aside from getting into super car categories. Every time I'd thought about getting alot of money suddenly (lotto) ... I'd always think... I'm buyin a Z4.

Here's the thing. I did an M Track Days event in Indy this past June (link below to my post on it if you're interested at all). The M cars are absolutely fantastic. Just unreal. But...I'm not sure I would buy one unless it was for the track. They're just too much for the street, especially the crappy roads around where I live. You can't really use the power except maybe for occasional highway ramps and such, and they don't ride all that great suspension-wise. Again, not knocking them at all, and I can see why people buy them.

The M-performace models seem to be a good split between the base cars and the full blown M cars, both in performance and price IMO.

Link to my Indy post below. If you get the chance to do one of these, I'd highly recommend it. BMW does an awesome job.

Yeah, I'm just sayin that if I could, I would do a true M. I totally agree that they aren't practical for day to day. It'd be a Friday car lol.

I didn't do an M Track Day, but I did do an Ultimate Driving Experience day here in San Antonio that was alot of fun. See my link as well.. made a YouTube video doing the Autocross in an M440i (Track Spec) and my test drives of a few different cars including the M850i.

**BTW... that M4 CSL... NOIIIIICE!!!!**

Thanks!
No ppf. I actually just ceramic coated it before taking those pictures with Adams advanced graphene.

Yeah, UDE events are fun too. We've done two of those as well. You can also do the street drives at the M Track days before/after the actual track time. That is actually the first time I drove a Z4 and fell in love with it. There's two pictures of the red one I drive in my link, and ironically I'm 99% certain I'm gonna order the red when I do my order this weekend.

I did two test drives of the Z4 before I bought one. One M40i (almost exact spec of what I have in my 30i) and a Red 30i.

Red exterior really isn't my thing, but it looks good! Just too much for me, personally. Unfortunately, at the time, the M40i was just out of my price range of what we wanted to spend, so I passed up what was actually a great deal. Fully loaded Z4 M40i, white with cerium trim, (forgot the wheels), HK system and the works... USD$62k with only 4000 miles on it. Only issue... I couldn't get the same kind of Military discount I could at BMW and BMW was also willing to match Costco pricing which took a 57k 30i down to 53k.

That might be the same red M40i that I drove when I went to PBIR for a BMW Track Explorers day on 12/17/2021.

Very well could be, since I assume they just shuffle those cars around. Cognac Interior?

I cannot tell by looking at the picture because of the reflection in the windshield, but I can clearly see a New Jersey inspection sticker and your car had a New Jersey license plate.

I definitely think they have a fleet of cars they take to events around the country. It is too much of a coincidence to see a red Z4 that has a New Jersey license plate in your picture and a New Jersey inspection sticker in mine.

Also, I recall that my instructor said they only had one Z4 in their fleet on the day I went to PBIR.

2023 M40i production update

I'm still waiting on a production # for a 2023 M40i.

My dealer tells me that BMW tells him that they are only working on the 4 cylinder models and expect to have a "chassis" for my build next month.

Wow this is an agonizing process.

That seems strange based on the way modern cars are built.

Have you verified that with the Genius Hotline – 1.844.4GENIUS (443-6487)

They stopped taking orders of the '22 s30i at the end of June, several months before M40i ended so perhaps not so strange.
