Z4 Ambient lighting

Could someone take a picture for me of where the ambient lighting is on the Z4? Thanks in advance!

Awesome! Thank you. Do the footwells light up as the same color as the ambient lighting when the door is closed?

Can all this be turned off? I almost turn off my dash always turn off the middle screeen and like it DARK inside when I drive at night. I don’t want a disco on wheels like Mercedes.

Yeah the footwells will light up in whatever color you chose. This is because my doors were open. But it’s tucked up pretty high in there and not super bright. Not super noticeable.

I do believe you can shut them off…. You can also turn down the intensity. This is at MAX intensity.

Yes. I turn mine off at night just by using voice commands.

With the side windows up, I tend to get the ambient lights reflecting of the windows, specifically around the drivers side mirror. Being able to turn them off under certain conditions is a good idea.

I had that exact same issue while driving at night and adjusted the ambient light's setting to 50% and it is no longer a problem.

There's a setting to dim the lighting at night that I have turned on that turns it way down automatically. It's a necessity.

Hmm, must be due to the placement of the lights. I have the ambient lighting set to the max in my current car and don’t have it dimmed for night driving, and have not noticed this. Something to keep an eye on I guess.

At full strength and driving at night there was a distracting / strong reflection on the side mirrors.

The red seats look stunning in those photos. I’ve never seen them in person, and everybody comments that they look more orange than red. But if I were to go with white paint, I’d probably go the same way as you on the interior. Nice car

How do you people see orange? So many people claim to see orange. All I see is red. Reminds me of the blue/black and white/gold dress 8 years ago. Seriously all I ever saw was blue/black which is EXACTLY what it was. How people saw white/gold I don't understand.

DO some of you have brains that don't adjust for lighting? If you don't adjust for WHITE LIGHTING in the pic with the red seats, you get some orangish tint but even then it's STILL OBVIOUSLY RED

Yes, people can interpret colors differently. Years ago, I had a shirt that I wore on regular basis to the office. In office lighting it looked one color, in natural lighting it looked an entirely different color, either green or brown. During my time there (3 years), I showed it to at least a dozen people (some by their request, word got around) and they were amazed. Every one of them saw green in one lighting, brown in another. Even my wife and I see colors somewhat differently but she also sees orange in the seats.

Agreed, our brains interpret the colors presented through our eyes and though generally humans interpret similarly, there is variation. However, even photographers use different calibrations of their monitors when lighting conditions change and virtually every camera adjusts for ambient light temperature. When I process and print photos, I ensure the correct color temperature of lighting conditions when the photo was taken (full sun, cloudy, overcast, fluorescent, incandescent, etc.) is selected. The software (Photoshop in my case) adjusts accordingly to display and print an accurate depiction of what the vast majority of human eyes see.

Perhaps you are the anomaly, Dave.

I can see the orange tint, 100%. Compare it to the Tacora Red interior available on the 3 series/X3. That's more of a maroon red, so next to the Magma you can really see the orange come out.

Magma Red is 100% orange. However, in pictures it comes out as a bright red. Don't let it fool you.

It is too bad they don't offer us Kyalami Orange like you can get in the M cars. It would look awesome with white, BSM, SSG and Frozen Grey.

Honestly, I wish the "red" seats were genuinely red. I think they'd look good as a solid, no kidding, unmistakable red.

It's great that it looks red in pictures, I guess. Nor does the orange bother me... but Just think that the interior would look better as a no-shit red as opposed to orange.

We've gone so far off topic though lol. This thread was about interior lighting. lol.... but at the same time, I think the OP got his question answered.

Ha. I'm good on the interior lighting. Was just curious all the pieces that lit up. Thanks again for posting!
