Seriously considering buying this as an everybody can use car to replace our 2019 Mazda 3 hatch.

We were considering GX460 & X5 but this thing looks great and w/ 340/369 hp/tq its competitive enough and a great all rounder. Looks way better than the large BMW SUV options but I still dig the old school classic look of the GX.

Mazda design dept has been on a roll the last 3 yrs. Best designs out there IMO. Also a great example of how you don’t need to overstyle the shit out of a car while keeping a big grill.

Mazda is literally the opposite of Toyota... a company that aims to please the driver, looks ahead and just tries to be better than the competition.

They built a RWD biased Inline 6 SUV that appears to be finely crafted inside... hats off because I am sure this will be a solid vehicle.

This thing needs to go in the underpowered CX-5. Please do it now in case that is what my lady ends up wanting as her new DD lol

Great effort for the small company. RWD platform, inline-6, good steering, plus cheap - sound like a good recipe. Let's hope their turbo 6 won't be as underpowered as a 2.5L turbo 4. And bring back Mazda 6!

Can't wait for pricing! My wife had 2 cx5s and loved every bit of them. We eventually stepped up to the Toyota Highlander to gain some extra room as we had baby number two in the way.

I hear at least once a month how much she hates it and misses her Mazda.

I need this to be released soon for my health and well being

Mazda impresses me, I'm not too familiar w cars anymore but they appear to have a handsome lineup, and, ofc, the MX-5 RF is the sportscar to have. They did great back in the, what, 80s?, claiming to be the 3rd largest Japanese maker and then they went into a lull for a while but I'm glad they are back.

Sweet, multi-plate wet clutch instead of a torque converter. And a real 8-speed transmission instead of a CVT.

What, they put a DCT in there?

They dont make a trendy EV or even hybrid like everyone else though so wouldnt they be lumped together with Toyota for being behind the times?

If only the RWD inline 6 G4 Mazda 6 will actually come to fruition...

They do have phev's such as the new CX60 that are offered in Europe and they actually do have an EV but it's sold only in CA for some reason.

two powertrains available, a plug-in hybrid that pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with an electric motor, and a turbocharged 3.3-liter six-cylinder with a much lower-power 48-volt mild-hybrid assist motor. The PHEV four-cylinder makes 323 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, whereas the six-cylinder makes 340 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque.

The current CX-9 was launched all the way back in 2016 and has been basically completely unchanged since, although sales have ironically actually been increasing over its lifespan. The CX-90 could really be a grand slam if they price it right.

Hell yeah, Mazda. Such a great looking and practical SUV. I'm sure it will perform amazing too. I really look forward to the upcoming RWD Mazda 6 which will use the same drivetrain. Mazda is the BMW of yesterday.

this is a family SUV and that is far more than any of the competition it sits against... even an X3 M40i makes 382 and costs 15k more

Did you want 500+ lol? Because those are the super SUVs... i.e. X3m Comps, Stelvio QVs, Urus etc... far more than most families would need...

If the M40i dynos at 382 and the Mazda does 340 at the crank, they are pretty far off.

Is this really an advantage (I mean over the torque converter)? I'm not sure it is on a big SUV. Most of these type of transmissions are clunky and not well behaved at low speeds. Also remember that the torque converter is locked up almost all the time in ZF 8 transmissions, especially in sport modes.

-DCT vs automatic debate, the ZF8s are amazing with 200 ms shift times
-Not sure of the definition of clunky.
-BMW's, Porsche's, Ferrari's DCTs (and I'm sure others) are very well behaved at all speeds.
-ZF8s lock up in 6th gear on up in any mode
