I’m sure modern materials are better, but the potential for shrinking (maybe, dunno), and also ‘baking in’ a crease.

Don’t fold your clothes and put them away wet

Congrats! Great color choice.

P.S. G80 front grille can be only tolerated on a SBM. From a far away.
While squinting.

But the main reasons for switching... I’d been looking at Porsche 718 and 911, but they’re prices have become… far too high. And you have to really stay on top of them when driving, not exactly a relaxing or comfortable experience. This gen m3 has some drawbacks. It’s more of a track-focused setup than previous M3’s. The power delivery is laggy then warp drive, which is a bit dangerous sometimes. It’s a beast. I like to drive in the mountains, and the long wheelbase without RWS makes for a less agile driving experience. It’s heavy, too - vs our f80 comp manual it’s +400lbs. It’s a difficult daily driver imo, which some people will disagree with. The final issue was how much attention it drew. The kids and wife were happy I sold it, let’s put it that way. More positively, the z4 is an amazing roadster. For the price, the combo of power, efficiency, elegance, design, comfort, and tech… is hard to beat. And I’ve always wanted one, ever since the z3 debuted in the Clive Owen short film. Glad I finally pulled one! This color combo is sweet, too. Thanks for asking.
oh wow i just test drove the M3 Touring this week, and I felt the opposite, i found the m3 to be less laggy than the z4 (especially when in sport+ and gearbox in d3)
It felt very nimble, but maybe a little less road feeling in the steering wheel. Sadly i can not get it down to my parking space otherwise i would probably switch cars
Instead now it will probably be some more modifications to the Z4, trying to get it a little bit faster so it compares to the M3 feeling

They are both amazing cars in my opinion, i'm sure you'll love the Z, especially if you wanted it to be a bit less insane, i definitely felt that insane part when driving the m3

welcome to the group

Well, I spent 5 months and 9k miles with the car, and I beg to differ… . The z4 m40i has the mild hybrid which gets it off the line quickly. The point about the m3 is there is a lag then speed is insane - like one second of nothing then +40mph in 2s. Wild.

I don’t think the Z4 has the mild hybrid. I say this because on my M340, the button to disable the auto start/stop wasn’t there. Z4 still has it. This was one of the things they removed from the 3 series when they added the mild hybrid in 2021.

M3 definitely pulls crazy fast 0-200km/h feels like it's only a few seconds :-)

i have the exact same delay you describe in the z4, i can imagine that if you had the same thing happening in the m that could get very scary in some situations .

Yes, it's a shame, you can't get it there.
It's like that with all the touring models, no?

In my opinion the M3 touring looks better than the regular M3 and M4.

Is the Touring essentially a station wagon to us in the US? I have a Subaru Outback, and while it’s nice, having a BMW, there are a lot of features I would really like in the Subaru. Not really a fan of the ‘smaller’ SUV/crossover style vehicles (kind of a ‘go big or go home’ person when it comes to that).

I can see why people buy multiple BMWs having lived with one for several months, now.

OK they added the mild hybrid to the M340i for 2023. Assuming they did the same for the Z4 because the MPG on the website is a tick higher at 23/31 v 22/29 on mine. If that's the case, I'm actually glad I got a '22 model for less weight and complexity. https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a4...iented%20M340i.

48V add to other B58 models isn't a new change. RigaTony1982 is correct.

I'm sorry but I don't see the Z mentioned in the article. I know my X3 M has it but I've been wondering about my Z. It is also NOT mentioned on the BMWUSA site.

Apologies being slow today. Are we saying the LCI M40i Z4 IS Mild Hybrid? I wasn’t aware.

If you compare the M340i and the Z4 M40i standard features on BMW's website, they say exactly the same thing.

But the guides are unclear, so I'm still unsure.

I do see the brake regeneration indicator in my instrument cluster, which is highlighted when coasting down. I’m just surprised that if my car is equipped with mild hybrid feature that bmw doesn’t say so.
