Sport Plus and DSC/Traction control

Can someone provide a chart for the g29 or confirm if sport plus disabled dsc and traction control? I’ve seen tons of conflicting info, as well as charts for other vehicles and model years.

Thanks

Your Owner's Manual (PDF version) has a very good description of DSC as well as DTC. Starts on page 184. If you don't have a copy, you can get it here - https://www.bmwusa.com/owners-manuals.html

Thank you for the link. I did go through but I must be missing something. What I’m trying to identify is if sport plus mode actually disables or reduces the effectiveness of dsc/traction control. Form what I found in the manual, it discuss how to enable/disable and reasons you would want to.

Anyone else come across a chart the lists the modes and the effect on all vehicle performance components? Something g29 specific?

The only charts I've seen were those created by forum members, none by BMW, and I haven't seen any for the G29.

Try this push the Sport to Soprt+ & then push & hold the traction button for 10 seconds & see if you get a "off" message for the system.

Or instead of the off message the little squiggly car symbole will jump up in size

Have not seen any charts on the G29 but do have older charts from past cars.

In Sport+ if the traction button was held most of the stability & traction systems shut down. There was an intermediate step with one push that would shut down specific parts, Held button for 10 seconds shut down or severally reduced everything.

Would not recommend it with the Z4 as even with the nannies on the car can get squally when its cold or wet. Traction at the limits is not a strong point of the car.

If the Z4 is anything like my M340i, you needed to hit the traction button once (not hold, jut hit) to use the launch control.

Putting it in Sport+ turns traction control off, but leaves stability control on. Others have indicated how to turn all (most?) of the nannies off.

I did that once. Seems fun until it’s not! Also, looked up the price of rear tires when I got home…decided to leave traction control on for a bit.

I didn't say it was advisable.

FWIW: I have always pushed my assigned BMW's at the delivery program as far as I was capable of doing. My whole reason for taking delivery there is to learn the limits of the car I bought.

When I killed all the nannies possible on a 2018 440, something I had not done on any previous car I was successful in taking out a bunch of cones & putting the car in the dirt tail first.

With just the normal Sport+ single push I never had an issue on that particular corner which is IMHO the most difficult one.

This G29 is different to how F20/F21 worked. Comfort/Sport/Sport+ is separate to the Normal/Traction/DSC OFF. If you want to turn off all "nannies" just hold the DSC OFF button for a while. If you also want to set the "sporty" stuff then put it to Sport+ which sets suspension etc. (and also traction setting by itself)
