Some Bimmercodes ineffective?
Hi, all, been reading a bit here, after picking up a 2022 S30i with 10k miles on it, Alpine White with Cognac Vernasca. I wasn't even looking, but wife & I both saw it and loved the combination. No black, white or red interiors on roadsters for me. Unfortunately, it wasn't option rich, and only has heated seats, Comfort Access, and Driver Assist packages. I did want HUD, (have it on the X3), HK, and M differential, but life's too short to worry about the small things.
Considering warranty, miles, etc, I though $48k was a decent price, as they are not common at all around here. Owned a '99 Boston Green 2.3 Z3, for 10 years back in the active Roadfly & Homecoming days, glad to be back in a roadster. Just sold my 2002 Carrera that took the Z3s place for the last 15 years. s30i has plenty of grunt for me at 65 years old, and the sound it wonderful, of course. Not missing the HUD much, what with the map in the dash between the speedo & tach. Anyway, already owned bimmercode and dongle for the 2019 X3, and have used it for the usual stuff on the Z4: Kill the ASD, enable video, ASS, mirror tilt percent, a few other things, but noticed that a few things do nothing. 5 blink lane change stays on 3 blink, turn on volume of the stereo is always 0 are the 2 main ones that bother me. 5 blink is much nicer, and on the Z4 basic HIFI, there is basically no volume until at least 50%, so that is sort of a PITA. Anyone seen this? My car is stuck on update 11/2021 and says no updates available, so a trip the deal is warranted to force the latest, as well as a crazy pretty sure under warranty defect in the tail light. There is large black mark the size of a nickel under the lens that is obvious! Replacement is the only option since the taillight assemblies are sealed. Pics later, when I have the time. |

Mine is a 2020 M40 with currant update. I have the 5 blinks coded in since new. Have not noticed anything with the volume but will check it out.
One thing I can't get is the brake light flash on hard braking. Did have it coded on my 2016 435 & 2018 440 Coupes

BMW considers the 11/2021 update as the last necessary ID7 update. Later updates are just bug fixes and they will only do them at their expense to address specific issues (but they don't tell you what they are.) There have been several threads on this on other boards including the G05 pre-LCI. My 2022 X5 has 11/2021. My '23 Z4 has 03/2023. The only functional thing I can find in the Z4 that I would like is an improvement to the Speed Limit Assist. In 11/2021, pressing LIM sets the cruise to the current speed limit. In 03/2023, there is a mod menu to set the speed to speed limit +/- x mph. OTOH, 03/2023 does not allow for coding of Auto Start/Stop. So I have to press the button to disable it every time I start the car. So getting the SW updated may take away more than it gains you. I'm leaving my G05 at 11/2021. I'm fine with the way it works. I'd like the improved SLA, but I won't give up my ASS coding to get it.

Thank you for the Blink info!! I’m sure that will help others as well. Now I just have to find it….
I would bet that Bimmercode will figure out the ASS change. I have a decent relationship with my dealer, and as long ad the car is under warranty, I bet they would update it for free. There are some other bugs I have found, not related to Bimmercode. Since the ‘22 lacks a hard drive, I have a 200+ CDs I had ripped in the correct format to use with BMWs & Minis to display meta data/cover art etc, on to a 16GB very mini USB drive, which works perfectly in the front port. When I find a suitable mini profile one with USB-C, I will plug it the armrest port so it isn’t visible. But with that, checking the box for Shuffle does nothing. It only plays consecutive songs and albums in order which is less than I would want, typically. Also, I found out after I had already purchased the car, that my s30i, being an 11/2021 build had the infamous Touchscreen delete. Having not heard of this or even found a reference to it until reading here on the ‘post, that was a little bit of an letdown. I assumed it was turned off somehow or defective and would be covered under warranty. I did not buy it at a BMW dealer, it was a local trade in at a Lexus dealer, sonthey knew nothing. I’m not a big touchscreen person and have been using the iSive knob on cars w/o touch for a while, but even I admit, sometimes a touchscreen comes in handy. |

I think the 5 blink lane change setting in Bimmercode just allows the selection in the menu on the iDrive. Check if the option is now there and can be selected.

The USB-C port in the armrest doesn't do data transfer. It provides power for charging only. See pages 243-244 of the manual.

Right here in this thread, a few people said they use the USB in the armrest, which is USB-C.

OTOH, 03/2023 does not allow for coding of Auto Start/Stop. So I have to press the button to disable it every time I start the car. There’s 2 ways to get around this: 1) click the setting to remember how the car was left. And leave it off. 2) have the car auto start in sport (or any that aren’t comfort or eco) mode. It will disable auto start/stop. Sorry to hijack thread! |
