I am very excited about the manual. I have put down a deposit and am waiting for allocation at my dealer. I have had both a bmw suv and a convertible for the last 20 odd years. After spending 5 years with i8s(2 coupe and 3 roadster), I went full on analog with a 2006 m roadster. While I do enjoy this car, I miss some of the comforts that a current vehicle offers. As such I am hoping the handschalter offers both both engagement and comfort stuff.

Yeah, I coded anti-dazzle back on in my M240… I’ll have to do so research on doing it on the Z4. My adaptive headlights move so it would be interesting to see how this is accomplished.

From what I understand, neither option has contrast stitching, it's the piping that's different (light grey in the "traditional" Cognac option, and black in the "MT-only" Cognac option).

Here's a sample photo from my '24:

I was hoping I was wrong. I would prefer my doors to match but don’t want grey piping.

Yeah, black would definitely look better IMO.

I didn't get the option to choose. That said, I'm a bit thankful because it's a tough choice: while black piping looks better, I would prefer the center armrest and door cards to also be Cognac.

My BMW Garage lists mine as black contrast stitching for the Handschalter Package. Hopefully we will have some test drive reviews with pictures soon to really see

I believe the contrast stitching is the stitching that runs along the top of the doors, as well as the stitching that goes across the dashboard.

If you get the Alcantara interior, that is blue. Otherwise it is grey, so it “contrasts” with all the other interior colors.

Speaking of DRL: Can they be switched off in iDrive like in old days, or coded out in ISTA?

Can turn them off in iDrive under the “exterior lighting” option.

Unless you want the seat all the way on the floor vertically in its lowest position, may need another two inches of vertical in addition to the normal space for the bottom of the seat, so approx. 40” vertical.
Waited till today to get back from the beach so I could do the two cars side by side. Came out with the same numbers for each. Both have the standard M seats with adjustable backrest wings.

Z4 M40i/M4C both the same numbers.

Outer edge of tracks 18"
Seat width 20"
Opening console to door frame 22-3/4"
Did not measure vertical, will check it out.

What’s your plan for the M roadster?

Currently plan to sell it to my youngest son at a ‘somewhat’ reduced price. I unfortunately infected him with the BMW bug early so I have only myself to blame.

I believe if you don’t order the 19/20 combo you don’t get the new suspension tuning. I would not recommend ordering the standard wheel setup.

Source?

Looks like as long as you get ZED, you get the revised suspension.

Of course no configurator for Canada, because as usually all we get is scraps, after the US got their fill of allocations ! It is always the same with all hot cars, regardless if it is BMW or Cadillac Blackwing 6MT, or Honda Type R, because in Canada we are always treated as second class citizens by the manufacturers !

What are you talking about?
Fellow Canadian here, and my 6MT is already built and awaiting carrier assignment to port.

Even got 3.5% off MSRP + another $1500 off with BMW Loyalty, while our American friends are pumped about finding a dealer at MSRP.

Our cars are cheaper also if you factor in currency exchange.

While you are waiting for the lackluster configurator, people are getting their orders in and receiving allocations in Canada.
Configurator will show you nothing you don't already know from reading this forum.

I second this.

I flipped to status 150 yesterday. Hoping I like San Remo, otherwise I’m ordering red instead.

Our cars are not cheaper. Canada does not do business in USD, we don't get paid in USD. You can't just directly convert it.

What I really wish, interior wise, is that the Alcantara option actually gave you mostly Alcantara seats instead of just a tiny bit on the headrest (which seems completely pointless).

I love the Alcantara seats in my Audi S5. They're warmer in winter, cooler in summer, and grip you better all year round. They were a big reason that I bought the Audi instead of a BMW.

Agree with this. The ones in the X1/X2 would be ideal, as the centers of the seat are Alcantara.

Love those seats. Sad the TTRS isn’t available anymore. And they should have offered it with a gated manual.
