Sad to hear.... hope he'll be ok... unfortunately his past doesn't have the best record in this instance... He was in a Genesis GV80 which is a safe car so it could have been worse.

Worst part about his driving is it's probably going to add to his handicap.

Sorry if this is too soon to be pulling your leg...

On this forum,

1. Beating the crap out of a courtesy car.
2. Driving beyond your ability.
3. Thinking an SUV is an F80 / F82.

Tiger is guilty of doing what we all have done, now he pays the price.
Track insurance???

Not to mention the MT review is awful, they say pretty much the opposite of what the majority of other GV80 reviews have said. From their recent MDX review to their X7 comparison, its pretty clear their writing has gone downhill. Most people don't even know what a Genesis is, this likely won't hurt them much, if it were a Tesla though...
Could have been, but he was not driving an X5 or a GLE for that matter. My X3M is no feather weight either, but it is fairly adept at handling. The antiquated 1990’s Ford Explorer example doesn’t really apply in 2021 as manufacturers have engineered in numerous safety mechanisms since then. Hell you might as well throw in the Isuzu Trooper or early “lifted” Jeep Wranglers as well. So I don’t buy the 5k not a sports car argument. Perhaps the cart is before the horse at this point as the cause of the accident is yet to be determined. That being said, brands often use celebrities to endorse/sell products. Pictures of that crashed Genesis GV80 with brand logos prominently displayed on the front doors has the potential to affect the perception of those considering puchase. And those that don’t know will soon know what a Genesis is. If you don’t think that Hyundai/Genesis will not make an effort to reinforce the validity of their flagship, all good

I'm waiting for cell-phone records to be investigated.
Other reports say the Hurst spreaders (BTW...I hate the term Jaws of Life), were used to pop the passenger door to gain access. I tend to believe this as if his legs are that badly damaged, the responding crew would have put a KED or short board to stabilize his back along with a C-collar. They would have pulled him up out of his seat towards the passenger door so they could get him clear of the steering wheel/dashboard and then out the front windshield area.

Seeing the aerial shots on the news today, he was hauling some serious ass for that amount of destruction to the vehicle.

Conversely, if he was speeding and just straight up effed up while driving, and lived to tell about it? Best PR ever..."Genesis, the brand that saved Tiger".

You sound like you are making conspiracies as to somehow this is Genesis' fault, its a car, and accidents happen, such is life. You can't just use one MotorTrend quote as your entire reasoning towards why it might have crashed when there are so many unknown factors - not to mention reports of witnessing excessive speeding and almost hitting another car the morning of the accident - If you wanna talk about quotes for handling, try this one from Car and Driver.
Quote:
Even though the GV80 is a largish mid-size crossover—roughly the size of the X5 or Mercedes-Benz GLE-class—it's never sloppy or unwieldy, and its 0.82-g grip on the skidpad is more than enough to make you feel secure. The ride is comfortable on the Advanced Plus trim's 20-inch wheels, and the steering finds a middle ground between responsive and numb.

All I will say is this: The Tour is full of coke heads and worse. They have the best cleaners and best PR of any sport.

Don't know what other criminal issues you are discussing and definitely not defending cheating but he was assaulted by his wife with a golf club.

I've never in my life seen a man with more women thrown at him in my life. It is mind boggling.

On a funny aside, when it first came out that he was cheating, I was flying from DFW to BIR for meetings. When the door closed it was 4 or 5 that came disclosed their situation. An hour or so later, when we landed I turned on my phone and my VM was full. I didn't even listen but called my best friend who asked, "Have you heard about the TW situation?" I said, yes...he was caught cheating with 4 or 5 women. My buddy said, "Wrong...it's up to 8 now." I go into a meeting and come out several hours later and the number shot up to 12 or 14.

What a crazy day.

Here we go with the “conspiracy/fake news” claims. I never once stated that the accident was the fault of the car Who knows what Tiger was doing and/or not doing leading up to the crash? The same could be said with Carerra GT’s right? Regardless of what the car journalists may assert, as well as the irony of the Motortrend GV80 editorial. My point is, It’s a new brand, and the Tiger accident is not exactly an ideal introduction to the masses. I would endeavor to say the coverage of this accident has likely exceeded any marketing that Hyundai/Genesis has done to date.

NGL but the first thing that jumped out at me (and I’d argue the majority of people) about this story was not what car he was driving...

The first thing I thought of when I saw that it was a Genesis vehicle and the interior cabin was intact was how safe the car might actually be. So I wonder if that's how Genesis will spin this assuming Tiger is okay, which is the priority.

Not quite sure how it happened, but it sounds like he may have been traveling at a high rate of speed, hit a curb and rolled the vehicle. A few reporters who live in that area state that vehicles tend to speed on the road in which he crashed.
Hope all is well, and wishing a speedy recovery.

First, here's hoping he recovers fully. The leg fractures are bad enough, but the crushed heel is a horribly long and painful recovery process, depending on the severity.

I'm from that area and I've traveled that stretch of Hawthorne Blvd hundreds of times. Yes, its down hill. Yes, people do tend to go more than the posted 45mph limit. But, it is two great big lanes each way with complete visibility and no sharp turns. To me, it is not inherently dangerous unless you are going way way over the speed limit or if something mechanical happened to the SUV, or he was distracted by something and lost control . Once out of control, he was merely along for the ride. Once he hit that center divider, his steering wheel was useless to him.

These cars we drive these days go faster and handle better than cars of the past. But, once out of control, the laws of physics take over.

The investigation should yield the cause. One thing I'm pretty sure of is the road itself is not to blame.

Here is a google street view of the exact location of the accident. His car was going the direction of the photo and crossed the center divider and ended up on the bank on the other side of the street.

Poor Tiger badly injured there, looks like the engine was pushed into the drivers compartment causing those leg injuries, wish him a speedy recovery he's a great golfer.

He's lucky he didn't die or kill someone else. He clearly has a problem, I hope he gets help.
