Thank you ZedsRedBaby and Flying Clog for your replies! It seems to be a crackling/rattling sound at the bottom of my windscreen on the passenger side. Do you experience the same?

Hi. I've not had anything there as far as I know, but it's often difficult to work out where the rattles are coming from.

ZedsRedBaby and Flying Clog, just to update you both and the wider community as this may affect someone down the line with a similar rattle issue - the BMW dealership confirmed that the rattle is stemming from one of the vents on the driver's side and they need to order a part from Germany to fix it (part will take c. 2-3 weeks to arrive). This is of course covered in my warranty.

CEL came on after 20k mile oil change (on driver later that evening). P04FC and U0100 via OBDLink. At dealer to figure it out.
BMW Fault Code: 16050A Crankcase Vent Leak -- which turned out to be seal on oil cap, fixed by cleaning seal and testing. Last edited by goat30i; 03-26-2021 at 03:29 PM.. Reason: update from dealer service |

With regard to automatic lock/unlock. I set my car to automatically unlock but not lock. If it doesn't automatically lock, I can leave it in my garage unlocked. This helps two ways…
- It doesn't keep locking and unlocking as I walk by. - If the top is down, my cat can't set off the alarm. This still gives me the nice feature of automatically unlocking.

Over 36k miles, now. Within the past 1k miles, I have started to hear occasional, but very noticeable clicking when turning--seems to be coming from driver's suspension / wheel area. . . haven't time to take to dealer yet.
Pass window going down, and staying down, when top is closed is becoming a silly annoyance–-seems to be more common, lately. |

Reading this thread is terrifying to someone who has yet to pick up their vehicle. Mine is currently sitting in a giant parking lot in Bremerhaven waiting for a part to be installed.

Just remember that people post here because they have issues with their cars, but there are many more that don't post anywhere because they don't have any issues with their cars. I have had many cars where the forums were posting about all the problems with the particular model car, but I have not seen the vast majority of the issues others have had. You may or may not have any problems with your car, but I'm sure you won't see the vast majority of the issues listed in the thread.

Radiator Blind repair
Car set an MIL a few weeks ago. Pulled codes and got a P05AF. Cleared it but light reset with same code in a week or so. Took it to the dealer who performed diagnostic and verified problem with lower radiator blind, but no parts in stock. Ordered from So. CA and took a week to get. Just got it back, took a whole day of work to replace, they had to remove a bunch of stuff from the front end. SA said there have been problems with same part on other G-series (3s, 5s, some X models) and those cars have had their warranties for the problem extended to 15 years.

False notification of all door openings
When I start running my car after starting the engine, a picture with all the doors open is displayed once in the meter.
It's not actually open and the picture disappears in a few seconds. There is no failure message. If you see this symptom, you will always get a PMA error message when you put the gear in R. The PDC and rear camera work normally. Does anyone have this symptom? Even if I replace the BDC at the dealer, it does not heal. I feel like it's coming out after changing the speakers. But I don't think it matters ... I replaced all of them with B & W speakers. Last edited by Taka4; 01-17-2022 at 06:25 PM.. |

I've seen mentioned about rattle behind driver with top up. I think it's either the black plastic cover on the roll br or that flap thingy for the top as it sits aga8the top when it's closed.
I have this issue too, has anyone found a remedy? |

Did that on my very first drive. I was rolling slowly out of a parking lot and it was quite a surprise. Poor design IMO. I've been thinking about getting some textured stickers or wrap for the (P) button
