Does the budget allow for a used 991.2 or Boxster/Cayman?

True, but I would be willing to pay more for a better car.

I've always been a fan of Porsche although I'm not sure how much they cost.

Like other cars it will always depend on the condition, year, model, etc. Seeing as you have a C8 on your list which goes anywhere from $60-90k, a 911 would be towards the higher end but a 718 Boxster/Cayman or 981 Boxster/Cayman is easily do-able at the price of other cars in your list. With Porsche maintenance costs will be higher though due to the mid/rear-engine design as well as "luxury status" that the brand commands.

What exactly is your price range?

Anywhere between 50 and 70k. Could pay a bit more for a good deal.

Should easily be able to find a nice 718 Cayman/Boxster, a 911 may be a bit out of reach. If you don't mind the flat-4 engine, the 718 is an excellent driver's car, a pure precision tool. I highly recommend a test drive.

Depend on the driving experience you want and practicality of the car. Good luck.

I'd still skip the C8 and get a Viper for similar money.

How much are you looking to spend? Estimating your budget based on your post, I think a used F-Type or AMG GT/GTS would be worth considering.

You would have to be an overt Porsche stan to pick a non-4.0 718 over a C8 IMO. That's craziness.

Used 991 could be a good alternative but its still not new.

This is precisely why I'd go with the C8. For $75K you have relatively high tech American sportscar with a wide bandwidth between performance and livability, and probably one of the more exciting designs on the road today.

Extremely hard to beat.

I was just giving a recommendation, especially since Corvette spots are pretty much all taken for the next 2-years and even if someone drops their spot, dealers will be marking up the cars that are dropped, this was what I was told by the manager of three different Chevy dealers.

That is also why I mentioned "if you don't mind the Flat-4." The new C8 is a performance bargain but many reviews have criticized its favoring of GT handling and understeer compared to its more raw and engaging predecessor the C7, hence why if looking purely for a great driving experience under $70k, a 981/982 Cayman/Boxster could be a good test drive to take even with the flat-4. 911's that are new enough and low enough in miles while still having some options are most likely going to be above OP's $70k limit.

If you're not in a rush, and are still enjoying what looks like your current M235, I'd say hold out for the 2022 C8. By this time next year they should be out with the new power plants - one will be a smaller, higher revving, turbo V8 putting out somewhere around 700 hp; the other will add a hybrid option to that for some pure-electric tooling around but just shy of 1,000 hp when you floor it. All for the price of the M4 give or take...

I cannot get past the looks of the C8, i just cannot. It's a f360 bolted to a camaro ...... it just looks unbalanced, wrong from every angle.

For C8 money i'd get a CPO 991 GTS every time.

Don't get the supra because a manual transmission will be announced the day after you sign.

Do you suggest it over the others even with MT?

does size matter to you?

because if it does coming from a m235i to the C8 or M4 will be a rude awakening, they are both boats

the supra would be a much easier transition

I realized I couldn't live with a big performance car about 3 days into ownership of a C7

Well I also had a 2015 S550 and man that thing was a land yacht. Had a V8 biturbo as well. I'm not sure I would like that in a sports car so maybe you're right...

The Specs

Motortrend was able to acquire the specs as to what can be expected with the ZR1 and it’s going to be a brute. Through one of their most reliable sources, they’ve learned that the car will be a hybrid. No, it’s not going to be aimed at fuel economy, either. Instead, the hybrid system will take a shot at the most power a Corvette has ever seen. It’s believed that the car will produce 900 hp through a twin-turbo DOHC V8 aided by electric. They call their source a “Senior Official at GM.”

That thing is gonna SCREAM.

I'm eyeballing property out in the boonies where I can build a multi car garage.

BMW M440i for daily driving
Ford Bronco 4-door for offroading / camping / snowboarding trips
F250 diesel for towing
C8 ZR1 for shits and giggles weekend fun (and maybe trackdays)
Porsche (yet to be determined what model) for weekend fun (and maybe trackdays)
Smart car with a hayabusa engine swap for going into the city when I have to
Flying Miata for shits and giggles weekend fun / trackdays (V8-swapped Miata)
Plus 1 bay for motorcycles...at least 3-4 dirtbikes, a trackbike, a supermoto, a daily, and a cruiser.

There's a difference between an S-Class and literally every other sportscar.
