Car looks fantastic thanks for posting the photo and your impressions. The rocks in the rear wheel brake guard is a common issue on the M2,M3,M4. It is an annoyance but not something that generally happens to me more than once every 10,000 miles or when I do a track day with sticky tires that pick everything up and launches it into the wheel wells. I wouldn't worry about it too much but it is a little scary the first time it happens.

Hahaha, maybe in a year but not absolutely necessary. Just wanted to give you a rough idea on how a 3 yr old (65,000km) B58 has been doing since you were thinking about mileage.

You need to activate CarPlay on ConnectedDrive first

Once that's done if you connect a CarPlay compatible iPhone via Bluetooth it will automatically prompt to enable it. Works brilliantly, wirelessly connects every time you get into the car

Picked up my M40i this afternoon. The wait was well worth it. This car is amazing. The quality and craftsmanship are fantastic. The ride and acceleration are so smooth. And the cockpit is so quiet when the top is up. With the top down the cabin noise is minimal and carrying on a conversation is no problem.

Getting ready for an Easter gathering so didn't have a chance to drive it other than getting it home from the dealer. I will say that the cognac leather is beautiful and rich. It was definitely the right decision to compliment the black
Sapphire metallic.

The Cognac interior looks fabulous. I am glad I chose it for my SF Red!

You know there was a post here a few days back where the original poster made a comment about the fact that if he was going to buy this new M40i Z4 and spend in the high $60k's that he was going to go all out and enjoy the hell out of this car. Sorry for the run in sentence there.

After picking up my car yesterday I couldn't agree more. This car is gorgeous and like so many others have said the black sapphire metallic looks so much richer and classier in person. Plus I spend a lot of time in my car and I too am going to enjoy every minute of it.

My car was ordered with three optional packs included; Technology Package, Comfort Package and Visibility Package. The Head-Up Display, Comfort Access, Adaptive LED Headlights and Wind Deflector can all be thoroughly recommended. However, I feel that the Harman/Kardon sound system in this car is not nearly as good as it was in two other previous BMW’s that I owned. It just lacks detail, struggles to achieve decent volume and lacks overall presence. The standard BMW sound system is probably adequate for most owners.

Just drove my M40i home from the dealership and I agree with you on the Harmon Kardon Stereo, my M235 sounds so much better. This one feels like it’s holding back and anemic. Really hoping it either gets better with time or I notice it’s lack of heart as time passes.

The HK in the M235 is pretty weak. Hard to believe it could get worse other than by the fact that the z4 is a convertible which has obviously a worse acoustic.

I noticed the general weakness of the non-Harmon Kardon system on the drive home from picking it up. I was pretty disappointed with it, coming from a car with much better sound. That said, its lameness DOES seem to be fading as I get more used to it.

Speakers do indeed break in. Putting aside any mention of electrical changes; the suspension will loosen up. This means the speaker will sound slightly more "full" and "open" after break in. Differences vary across speakers though. I've heard drastic differences; or minimal differences after break in. It depends on the particular drivers.

I have my own break in procedure that will remain unsaid here, but 8 hours or so of moderate volume listening and you'll be broken in.

Yes, it is not really fair to expect good sound production with the roof down. However, with the roof up it does not sound anywhere as good as my two other BMW's that had the HK sound system fitted. Hoping that it will improve through time. Only got 900 miles on the clock so far.

Finally got to 600 miles and the only problem I'm having with this beast is that it won't stay below 75. What a monster and it begs for more. I really have to be careful because this car gets to 90 in a heartbeat. Oh and like I posted many weeks ago I am Loving the hell out of this car.

Yep.... we bad. "Z" on friends.
