Not a fan of too much Piano black either, same reasons, plus reflectivity, & was glad mine had the silver metal herringbone. Actually, I like the “black wood” in my X3. The herringbone is something different and doesn’t show anything. Top down with too many reflective surfaces can be annoying. For instance, morning sun at your back, top down, and the touchscreen will blind you. I have to throw something over it! Thinking up some kind of easy on/off glare killer.

I loved the matte carbon fiber on my m3. Do you have a before pic of the piano black? Did it have bad reflection in direct sunlight?

dealer installed, they have paddle shifters too in the same kind of carbon, but i already got the gloss ones elswhere
