I am LOVING it.

I have finally past 1500 miles so I'm leaning on the throttle more. (M40i.) I've had the car over 140MPH, and I've had some sustained full throttle acceleration.

I fukcing love this this car. Comfortable for long drives/GT, kicks some serious ass in short spurts, sounds AWESOME, corners and brakes well over 1G..... Gonna have to take it to the track........

Happy Boy.

That makes me look forward to collecting mine tomorrow.

I'm hoping this car will feel a bit special and be the type of vehicle I just want to go out and drive for the hell of it.

Oh, you will. My M40i is basically a toy, and weekend roadtrip vessel. Yet I find myself looking for any excuse to take it out over my other cars, during the week. I couldn't wait for the 1200 mile break-in period to lapse. Now that it has, and I can fully explore its performance potential, I have a permanent grin plastered across my face during and after every drive.

This is exactly what I want out of the car. It will be my daily for commuting to work also so hopefully it will brighten up this journey. Its going to be a change for sure from the 440i GC it replaces!

Luckily the wife has a new SUV for family duties which has made going to a two seater possible for me.

"Storm Trooper"

Just picked up my new 2020 Z4 M40i about a week ago. Having a blast with it - so much fun! Alpine white with black leather interior and black interior trim. Nicknaming it "Storm Trooper"

My very first car (age 18) was a brand new 2 seater, Datsun 2000 Ragtop Roadster. LOTS of fun memories from those days.

Now 50 years later and I am back in a 2 seater ragtop roadster . . . quite a bit more car than my old Datsun 2000 . . . but same level of fun!

Also have (original owner) 2011 M3 E92 Coupe (Jerez Black) . . . naturally aspirated V8 . . . a monster still to this day.

Gas mileage? Who needs gas Mileage! LOL

Pretty sure your Z4 M40 is faster than your M3. 😁

Off the line - definitely yes. Top speed - ?

E92 is noted for lower torque and is a relatively heavy car.

But . . . in the end . . . there is nothing like the big throaty and visceral "rumbling" sound and feeling of the big naturally aspirated V8 when started up!

Now I have both! Yippee!

Don't disagree with the sound and feeling, but at only 266 cu in, the S65 is hardly a "big" V8. It is really a quite small V8.

OK . . . how about mean and nasty sounding . . . "compact" V8?

1200 miles - really? Is that what's published in the owner's manual? It would seem 1200 kilometers would be reasonable. I thought my 2008 335i only required a 600 mile break-in period and even that was seen as excessive to friends who believe a car should be driven hard from the first mile.

Planning a June ED and I would like to be out of the break-in period for a couple of high speed autobahn runs. Can someone confirm the break-in period requirement for a 30i Z4. Thanks!

Gheumann, whereabouts in wine country are you (napa or Sonoma)? I will keep an eye out for you when I am up your way. My frozen grey should arrive at dealer next week so will pick it up in next week or two. Was up at Paraduxx Harvest Festival couple weeks back and last night at a dinner at Duckhorn where had pleasure of having president of Duckhorn at our table (nice guy with a dream job and great wine). Was bummed did not yet have the new car for the drive as it was perfect 80 degrees yesterday. Will look for you when next up there - Ill be the guy in the grey Z M40i!

Take the drive up the mountain to Pride Vineyards. The view from there is amazing (and the wine is fantastic as well).

Spring Mountain! know it well and will be looking out for you - used to be member at Pride and actually in my wine cellar have a Pride barrel with a glass table top. Will be on the look out for you as also a member at Beringer and the road to Pride is just a hop away. That area where Napa and Sonoma counties meet is beautiful!

Sadly, I live in Scottsdale so you won't see me often.

But my wife's cousin is CEO of One Hope Vineyards (next to Mondavi and across from Cakebread, I think).
