Replacement convertible top

Hopefully it's a long time off before you need to replace your top but here's an alternative to OEM.

I added an aftermarket accessory pocket that fits in the driver seat/tunnel gap. Hardly detectible in that area and keeps the interior neat. Perfect for stowing a phone or other small item. An S23 Ultra, for example, fits well. The pocket includes triangular / trapezoidal foam inserts to adjust the pocket width and spacing, depending on the fit. In my case, I'm interested in the fore area of the pocket to hold a phone. The phone holder/NFC tray in the car is fine, but I don't prefer that option.

Do you happen to have any pictures of how you installed it and how it looks in your car?

Thanks for adding the picture.

Two questions:

1) How is it attached?
2) If you move your seat back and forth (different driver positions that are programmed) does it stay in place or does it move?

Checking the pic, there is a loop that secures around the seat belt buckle. In my case, the seat is only adjusted few inches, at most, fore/aft. The pocket shifting out of place has not been a problem in both the E89 nor the G29. I merely needed a place for a larger phone, opposed to a pants pocket or tray area.

Is the replacement top which this company sells that is made with Haartz Twillfast RPC the same OEM material that BMW uses for the Z4?

Good question. It is the same manufacturer but may be a different fabric. According to Haartz website, our Z4 uses the Sonnenland A5B-DS/HT fabric but I cannot otherwise confirm.

I swapped out my wheel center caps for the floating center caps. BMW PN# 36122455268. Subtle difference but it satisfies me that the roundel stays upright.

Thanks for posting this. I had those on my m240i and it was pretty cool. It was fun watching friends try to figure out how I got them all lined up. But the ones I found online appeared not to fit the wheels on my Z4.

There are two sizes. These fit wheels with a 112 mm bolt circle. The other size, which BMW had for years, fit wheels with a 120 mm bolt circle.

Another vote for this...excellent fit for the cargo area. Feels a lot better throwing golf clubs and shoes back there after a round now...

Yes, it can be easily done with the careful use of a plastic pry tool.

If I’m not mistaken, I saw a video on YouTube showing how to do this.

Yeah. The whole job took about 5 minutes. I used a plastic trim tool to pop the standard ones out. The new ones just snap in.

Seat Belt Pads

I picked up these seat belt pads off of Amazon. Obviously the color is not a match for my magma seats but they'll do. They're also available in black and seem to be well made.

How is the stiffness on those pads? I was just looking at them the other day.

Definitely on the firm side but they feel as though they'll do the job. I won't know for sure until I get a chance to take a longer drive with them.
