Wonder how long they would last?
I got 19,000mi out of the factory delivered PPS 300 tread wear. Might have stretched them a little further but do a lot of high speed interstate driving. The 100 treadwear 275X17/315 X17 on the 2250lbs 488WHP Cobra last 9,000mi. Expect the Cup-2 treadware 140 would fall someplace between them but closer to the Cobra. This link is a current thread in the M3/4 section. About a lightly experienced driver testing his new car at the track. Why its relevant beside being well written is it talks about factory PS4S tires dealing with S level horsepower quite a bit. Go to post #1 https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2092348

Treadwear ratings are hard to compare across different manufacturers.
Obviously it depends on how hard you push them, but Cup2 tires would likely last under 7500 miles in pure street use (case in which why do you have Cup2s on?). |

All tires cup and get loud after spinning in the same direction over time.
With your staggered PSS tires rotate them on the same axle. Even with directional tires I've done this for several hundred miles to eliminate the cupping and then switch them back. No harm done running them backwards for awhile. I've never noticed any difference in handling, then again I'm never on a track or drive like I am. |

And in the dry the difference is probably not very noticeable anywhere not at the limit. But I don’t imagine the siping works well when unidirectional tires are reversed.

I find the tire noise of my PSS is highly road dependent. Asphalt breaks down quickly around here and leaves a very coarse surface that is loud with almost all tires. On newer asphalt the tires are very quiet.

My 2024 M40i came with Continentals that were ALOT LOUDER than the Super Sports. Just FYI. On my 30i , I replaced the OG tires with Michelin Sport Pilot All Seasons that reduced road noise and I did no feel like I lost anything in regards to grip or handling.

I will be lucky to get 15-20k on the PSS that came on my Z4 when you take into consideration the extreme heat and intense sun that they will be subjected to here in Florida. 😎 |

Tire wear also (of course) has a lot to do with how you drive and alignment plays a role there as well. I tend to wear out front tires in 15 - 20k miles max but the rears still halfway look new. It's basically from taking on / off ramps at high speeds and wearing them down. It's one reason I stopped buying directional tires, so that I could at least swap left and right. I'd still kind of love a square setup but of course the Z doesn't start off from the factory anywhere close to that.

You'd probably guess it but if you were racing or autocrossing you'll be disappointed, but for street driving they're A-OK. I think the peak summer grip being lowered is outweighed by being able to drive them in cool weather. In MN at least, we get a ton of those days. I had those on my 30i. I really liked them. Reduced road noise and I still didn't feel like i gave up any performance/grip for the driving that I do. I wouldn't take those tires to the track, but they're good and look good for daily driver.

Our '23 x3 M40i "lost" its runflats early on () and have Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires...they are a quiet, nice riding and responsive all season tire that does fine in the white stuff too. |
