Changing Instrument Cluster in Bimmercode

I was playing around with Bimmercode the other day and came across the Instrument Cluster (IC) settings. I really like the Alpina setting over the default IC. Does this count as up-badging? I hope not. Only the driver and the passenger if they know what to look for can see it.

Are there additional choices available?

I use the alpina cluster. I like the font better. I could care less what people think -- and it came with the car that I paid for.

Pretty cool! Do any of those M displays change the way the RPM side of the gauge looks? I just can’t for the life of me get used to the sweeping up and left of the RPM’s…….40 years of seeing Rpm sweep to the right.

No, unlike the actual M display the mods only change content & color. The tach & speedo structure stay the same

I run the modded 200MPH version in the Z4.

M displays change from base to sport & back with the M Mode console button. Button with green indicator on opens & closes the exhaust valves. Switch with three lines on the stick control how hard the shifts hit.

Base M display same as the Z4 different content available.

The sport oriented display. Lots of data can be called up on either side of the tach. Indicator moves up both sides of tach & flashes a SHIFT across the top at red line.

HUD tach & display tach both open with a lower redline which moves higher as the oil warms up.

Since the IP is basically a computer monitor you'd think that BMW could have programmed in hundreds of configurations very simply, if I had my choice I'd prefer the gauges to look like they did on my old E85 or E89, even the digital IP in my wife's A5 is more readable and pleasing to the eye. I'm not a fan of any of the current options.

This is why the HUD is my favorite option. Don’t have to look at the busy gauge cluster.

Not my M4C screen. Used a stock BMW photo to save a trip outside to the garage @ 4:00AM. Having some doors refinished & the kitchen to garage access doorway is filled with a plug.

Z4 screen is mine marking a 100 degree day last summer.

I'd imagine it uses whatever you have set for HVAC. I'm in the US but prefer Celsius, so that's what I configured in the settings on mine.

When I picked up my car the genius asked if I wanted Celsius or Fahrenheit. Celsius is what’s used here, so that’s what it is on my car.
