Which of these two pre-owned Porsche Cayennes should I buy?

Looking for opinions. Two immaculate virtually identical single owner clean history V8 958s, ALL maintenance and repairs done and documented, one 60k miles used, one 80k miles Porsche CPO.

Which one is the better buy?

Price is the same, CPO car will be twice as much to ship but the two are the same price.

Ones a bit cheaper to ship, otherwise they are the same price and I'm not going to consider shipping costs as a motivator, I'm not going to cry over a couple hundred.

CPO one has panoramic roof which I worry about a little, but will be covered for 2y.

Really the two cars are the same, differences are super minor and each has the options I want. This really is me trying to get the best value between lower mileage or CPO coverage.

If that's the case - what year are each of them - this makes a difference. Also, miles seem quite high on both of them. CPO doesn't cover normal wear and tear or maintenance, I don't believe. This has the potential to be rather costly.

As in the original post, they are identical. So both the same year. Not that it matters much but they are 2013, which from my reading is the best year for the V8 cayennes. Id love to buy newer but they switch to the TTV6 and I don't want another turbo car. V8 is what the heart wants in a truck.

Porsche CPO!!

Other car is from a used car dealer and has receipts and invoices of all work done which is still impressive... But no warranty.

Pad and rotor thickness on each vehicle? Figure $4000 if it’s due for pads and rotors front and rear.

Anything with 80K miles is a crap shoot. Porsche, even more so. After drivetrain issues, I find its usually the options that are the biggest issues. So, if the car has any technology options, beware and do your research before you commit. For instance, with Porsche, if a car has surround cameras and/or auto braking (which I'm not so sure a Cayenne had in 2013) these systems have to be realigned when things like 4 wheel alignments are done. Expensive, not to mention crazy!!

Have you reviewed Porsche forums to learn about the trouble spots with this model? Such as the transfer case....

And if these cars have the light color dash, I recall there was a lawsuit over the glare where drivers couldn't see. Something like that.

I'd lean toward the CPO if the is a good bit of time/miles on the wtty. I see comments from people who know those cars so take my advice for what you paid for it

New brakes. New michelin tires. On CPO.

~90% thickness brakes/tires on used model.

Both look like iron rotors.

Black dash. Rear camera. No auto braking listed. Only options I'm worried about are the ventilated seats blower failing, and the panoramic roof breaking. Vented seat is probably not bother fixing.

Yes, transfer case major issue but currently shifts smooth per inspection and covered for 2y on CPO unless I'm mistaken, coolant pipes are aluminum on 2013.

Used 60k miler has transfer case chain replaced last week.

Do they have PTV/PDCC/full leather? Cuz you should get those. Unicorn on a GTS though.

For same price I’d take the CPO. Future buyers will prefer a CPO car given the high mileage. I’d suggest looking to see it Carmax has a spec you want. It’s the only place you can get a bumper to bumper 5 year warranty on a 958 without paying an absurdly high price

Full leather yes, the others, I'd love but didn't see on any vehicles that looked to be in good shape or even south of 100k miles which would be just inviting trouble I think.

Put a deposit on the CPO 958 GTS. Gonna go pick it up in a week.

Thanks for the advice from all, got me to look at some things I hadn't read up on or asked about yet, which made the decision pretty easy.

Wise decision. Congrats. More complicated Porsches mean more little things to go, and Porsche maintenance prices make BMW look like Honda.

Anecdotally, I once had the little plastic tabs for the sunshade of my 996 Targa break, so the shade wouldn't retract and cover the glass roof, which turned the car into a greenhouse. I took it to the dealer, and they said they needed to take the entire roof off from the A-pillar back to replace a cheap little track for the sunshade. I can't remember the total estimate exactly...but it was thousands!

CPO for the win!

I think I'm going to have high UV tint put on the roof. If the shade breaks out of warranty I'll have the roof blacked out lol

Great that you already bought what you want. Good thing I read the other post above. I would have answered that you should consider what you really want and also choose the one with a lower mileage. But after all, everything's okay now.

Just hope it doesn’t break while in the open position. Think it’s about $10k for a new panoramic roof. Some posts about it on Rennlist.

Yeah that's my concern. Honestly I have had sunroofs on all my cars, I RARELY use them, so not too worried since the chance it'll ever get opened is pretty slim. Not an option I really cared about and if my wife drives it a bit and doesn't want to open it I'll probably get the sunroof motor coded off and disable the button to make it a glass roof. If I could have gotten one with a slicktop I would have, but that wasn't something I could find.

What I ultimately wanted was a CPO car which I knew had been through with a fine toothed comb which this one was, despite higher mileage than I wanted.

I'll eat my own hair if there's a single thing wrong or maintenance item that hasn't been done within the last 7 calendar days when I pick it up. Which is not what I could be "guaranteed" with the other GTS. So, easy choice.
