Cracked 19" Wheel

2k miles in and no potholes later, I woke up to a tire on 6 PSI. Inflated and kept pressure for a while, so checked again and took it to the dealership. They informed me there's a crack on the wheel (19" front passenger) and the tire also needs replacing. There's no visible damage from anything, just a hairline crack which supposedly they cant fix. Also somehow it also needs a new tire so it's going to cost me 1380. Are there any recourses for warranty claim? I do not have any tire insurance, as this is a lease and driven very few miles. I read there was a settlement on a class action lawsuit on previous gen z4's, so wanted to see if this was something that was happening to others.

Thanks!

I'd want to see the crack and the tire damage before shelling out for that...

Dave

They sent a video and I can see the small hairline crack. I'll have to ask to see the tire too.

I would; unless you drove on it severly uninflated or it took a massive hit it is rare to see tire damage and typically there'd be a bulge or other visible damage where the cords/belts were broken...

If you're the only driver, you'd know if you hit something hard enough to crack a rim.....wonder if it was done during a test drive or something....

It takes a lot to crack a factory wheel. I'd think the tire would at least have a bubble in it. You might try to source a wheel online for less - see if the dealer will price match.

I hit a pot hole in my G29 and didn't notice that the wheel was damaged until the car went into the garage for another issue. It was so badly damaged I'm amazed I couldn't tell when driving the car. Unbelievably, the tyre was fine.

For info the replacement wheel was £800.

Lots of wheels for sale on these forums, why not buy a used one in good condition, and then buy your own tire? I dont know what the availability is for your wheel, but wont hurt to look
