On the current Audi TT I like the front but not the back. Here it's vice versa. I hate how they made the front headlights more round and discarded the sharp headlight design of the concept. It's disappointing, really.
But the back is perfect, I love it. |

Falling further from the tree.
All the historic BMW traits are being lost... BMW no longer has a solid identity.

I wasn't completely sold on the front lights of the concept but with the real deal they just pushed it completely to the ugly. I really dislike that front.

Looks great! Only hope is that a year or two from now they surprise us with a true M version

Classic what?
Some posters thought back in April that the M2C grill belongs to a KIA. Well, this car from up front just needs a Kia badge. Doesn't even resemble to the concept car, seems like a modern day interpretation of a Frogeye Sprite. The back side is better, but busy, racy JDM like. Nothing classic or classy as a matter of fact from the side. The e89 Z4 was a car of fantastic proportions, very elegant, a timeless design. I wonder what that girl that designed the e89 think of this new model. I can imagine, so pls let me pass the meth pipe to her. |

I like it. Has a hint of classic in it.
There's a little bit of everything going on though..... lines borrowed from Mercedes, Mazda, and even the Kia Stinger GT? I predict that in a few years BMW is going to go back to the original 2002 and E30 era of boxy design. That's the direction they are headed but obviously they are doing so in baby steps. |

Too bad they dropped the dual headlight, such a classical bmw design feature.
The new 8 series has it so its not that bmw is going away from that (and the new 8 series looks more aggressive/distinctive because of that I think). For the rest I like the design, but it reminds me of an abarth spider on steroids (probably because of the headlights, I'm not the only one I see). Good for the softtop again; the e89 was such a sales failure (especially in the US, a very important market segment for this type of car)

Couldn't they have done pop up roll hoops instead of those ugly squares that are fixed and look out of place. The hoops an the boxter look much better and you can get them in body color.

The challenge is that the picture of the front of the car is distorted giving it a bulbous look. It still has great potential and mechanically is way better than the E89.

Back: looks great/unique
Front: The opposite of back BMW should have kept the stretched wider look of the concept front end. Would love to drive regardless, but either way this is no Cayman/Boxter competitor, just a different league |
