I saw someone posted on FB their delivery of a green Manual as well. Not sure if it's the same one or not.

His comment on shifting: “I don’t have any experience on older BMWs. I was comparing it to a 6 speed Miata, which is regularly considered one of the best. I owned one for 12 years, this is as good as that. Positive action and not notchy.” He separately commented that his Miata was a 3rd generation and that he liked the Z4’s rev matching. |

Ditto for the 18 inch wheels because the 255/40/R18 (the front) is not available either. |

Busy at work havent driven it too much but.....
Spent some time today with the car on a sunny day:
- The SR green with Cognac is fantastic. My fav combination of all my cars so far. - I traded a '19 Misano blue G29 3.0 for this car and that thing seems like a toy compared to this one - This thing is a serious car in appearance and attitude, the sound the engine makes in sport plus mode with the top down is fantastic. - Haven't had a chance to really test the suspension. - I find the shifting to be precise with very short throws. The clutch pedal travel is longer than I'd like though. Have to get used to it. - No reason to drive in anything but Sport Plus. - Wont really get to take a long drive before the weekend - Have forgotten how much fun it is to actually DRIVE a car. No laser cruise no self driving, no grabbing the phone no texting this thing immerses you in the driving experience. - I don't think BMW can build enough of these things when a comparable Boxster GTS with a manual and 6 cyl turbo is $100K+ - Fuel mileage seems to be 25 around town nearly 30 on the highway |

Id say its light and springy
lets see what the other folks say. Im not an expert on clutches. I wish there was less pedal travel though. it feels like the clutch pedal moves maybe 6" total distance and the first 3" nothing happens. I havent driven a stick in like 10 years so im no expert.

This could be due to CDV a common thing with BMWs, i think its possible to lower the engagement point by removing CDV

A CDV is a restrictor in the line, slowing the action of the clutch. Almost like it forces you to be using it a little more slowly. Shouldn't change the engagement point. That is usually a factory setting somewhat - not a setting usually that can be changed, but just a result of how the car is designed and put together.
Engagement point can change as it wears, or I've read for some cars it can be forced to a new location but I think that has more to do with revising how the actual pedal is mounted. Could check how the pedal is set up, there could be some sort of threaded rod or locknut that can be tweaked, or not, I don't know. My 1 series was always great so I never looked into it. Anyhow, TLDR, we may dislike the CDV's, and the pedal engagement might be adjustable, but they wouldn't be expected to be related. |

I'd like to read the thread. You could be right but I don't see how the engagement point changes with the CDV. The restriction will of course alter the speed of the flow, so I suppose removing the lag could be felt as if it changed the engagement point if you're on and off the pedal quickly. But the true point's of contact would be a function of all the physical locations, distances, clearances and so on. I think anyhow. I won't challenge you on it but would love to know if it works otherwise out of general curiosity.

Per the description, Clutch Stop simply stops the travel of the clutch pedal once the engagement point has been reached. It doesn’t shift said point.

Right, a clutch stop keeps you from pushing too far past the engagement point unnecessarily. Helps some people I guess, I don't see the use of it. But I've owned sticks for like 30 years so that could be a factor. I don't just push to the floor, I push to engage and then don't go past. Muscle memory eventually sets in.
CDV is a totally different thing. it's a restrictor in the line. Slows the fluid flow. Keeps it from being jerky. I prefer to use my foot and brain for that. I predict I'll take it out but could be surprised. |
