ynguldyn correct me if I am wrong.
I'm probably more confused than anyone, but I think ynguldyn confirmed that March 2023 the M4 is getting ID8, and February production is the last batch of ID7. I don't think this is an official LCI... it's just a change between model years (I think?) but that would mean the M4 is switching over with March production... I guess. I guess it also means that if you're still waiting on an M4 allocation, your stuck with ID8 at this point since feb production is likely allocated.

LCI for G22/G23 is March 2024, not 2023. This should trigger either a full LCI or LCI-like changes for all M3s and M4s.

This is incorrect. BMW rolls over to new models or new versions of existing models three times a year. For German plants, it is March, July, and November. For Spartanburg and SLP - April, August, December. Which of these months is chosen for each specific activity, depends only on product planning considerations.

Ok so from experience the last production month for the G80 is June. So if the 2024 LCI hits in March, there is no sure way of knowing from wich week the car will be produced in LCI format unless it's a 2025 produced from July on ?

Just trying to figure the best time to order when one is trying to get the LCI and waiting a minimum.

I don't think the premise of your question makes any sense. He said that new models roll over in March or July or November for German plants. If the LCI is March 2024, then it sounds like the new model year roll-over is happening in March next year, not June. So the last production year for MY2024 would be February, and the new LCI MY2025 would begin March 2024. You would know what you're getting because your allocation would either be for a MY2024 or an LCI MY2025.

This is correct. LCIs trigger a model year change, and there have been plenty of examples of 8- or 16-months-long model years (whatever fits the schedule).

Yeah, sorry I was referring to the iDrive 8 update.

So in this case, if the M4 is rolling over to MY24 in March because of the iDrive changes, is the M3 doing so also? Or will it remain MY23 until July?

M3 already has iD8.

I know. I was just asking if they are both changing to MY24 at the same time, or if it's M4 in March, M3 in July.

I can’t seem to find the EOP date for the G29 Z4. Since there will be a manual option I am becoming interested.

I believe the manual was expected to be announced back in October, with first deliveries in March. Pretty sure they ultimately decided to scrap it.

The reporting was wrong. The manual is coming in March 2024, not 2023. See the top post, in the July 2022 update.

I don't think anybody in Munich cares about model years much, so it's going to be whatever BMW NA decides y'all gonna call it.

Hey, (new to BimmerPost) Would the G80/2 also receive an "S58TU" with mild hybrid tech/hardware applied from the S68? Or atleast some kind of physical revisions the the power/drivetrain? It would make sense atleast.. Having driven the new Mild-Hybrid ZF8 in the X7 40i and M60i, Id love to see it in the G8x platform. The new e-motor + clutch engagement is both smoother than the torque converter and shift are noticeably more "snappy". Only thing is, you can't exactly brake torque it off the like at about 2k RPM, it sits lower at around 1500RPM and doesn't load up as much.. Only way around that would be to have a launch control strategy similar to the AMG MCT...(?)

And I also assume the G2x would either receive the B58TU2 in "O" or "T" spec late 2023 or early 2024 as part of the post LCi(1) update?

Weird. Maybe I accidentally deleted it while editing the top post. It's 10/25.

Hopefully announced in March '23 for the 24 MY....

Latest from BMW Blog says "Later this year": https://www.bmwblog.com/2023/01/14/b...-transmission/

Assuming the Magna Steyr plant starts producing MY24 cars in November it could still be nearly March '24 before US deliveries start for the manual Z4.
