Thumbs up

My good friends new Vette. He did some custom paint work on the removable roof. All around a sweet ride indeed!
Looks sooooo much better without that ridiculous and cheesy rear wing.

I cannot fathom how anyone thinks this looks better than the C7. Imagine a refined C7, nip and tuck here and there on the outside, instead of spendign millions on going mid engine they sort out the interior... be gold.

Agree, I think the C7 is the better looker. I've also heard from many its the better driving Vette as well.

Going mid-engine on the vette is a step in an interesting direction. Gives me more hope for the next generation but after seeing several C8s in person they really missed the mark on finish quality, looks, etc. Someone said it looks like a Camaro fucked a Ferrari 360 and that's an image I can't get out of my head

While I certainly wouldn't mistake it for a Camaro, I think it looks pretty similar from a general design standpoint. Especially the lights. Though in my opinion the C7 was already moving in this direction. So this just feels like more of an evolution of that. It makes sense to me that they'd want to exhibit a somewhat cohesive corporate design language across models.

Well yeah, but every single automaker from Bentley to Suzuki does that.

The back end just looks so....rushed. like they spent all their time on the front, interior and engineering but essentially called it a day by the time they got to the back.

Kudos to Chevy to building an amazing car BUT this is their first stab at the design and while it is game changing...I don't find it appealing like many of you. Next gen will hopefully a more cohesive design where they either choose smoother body lines like a Ferrari or go all out on hard lines like Lambo. This weird middle ground is nothing but a lack of commitment on their design front.

In a few years, those panels will be peeling and sagging.

Some people don’t care about that, but there is a reason they’re so cheap for the performance you’re getting. People who buy M cars are expecting a level of interior quality that the Chevy can’t reach. My point is, the corvette might be faster with the right driver, but it comes at a cost that most of us aren’t okay with. I try to love them since it’s American and a great bargain but every time I sit and drive them, it leaves a lot to be desired vs a Porsche or BMW in that price range.

The c7 interior was leaps and bounds ahead of the c6. It was nice.
You guys that live in your little bmw bubble need to wake up.

My experience with chevy service was excellent, no issues. 1 dealer sucked major balls, but when i found the right one, i would have zero issues referring anyone there.

I had a C7 Z06 extensively modified engine internals and it is still unfortunately a GM still and does develop squeaks and rattles along with some other minor issues. I traded it last week but will be getting another one. Going to be a couple of years maybe three before GM builds that version though.

Will be a beast with AWD!

I've never been a Corvette or American muscle car guy (strictly German made cars and Italian motorcycles) but I think the C8 is a pretty nice car compared to the alternatives. I have more of an issue with the interior, specifically the driver cockpit, than the exterior which I actually like. I haven't driven one yet but I'm looking to do so asap. Yeah it's not a Ferrari, but a near fully loaded C8 is like $90K and I suspect a whole lot more reliable and less to maintain. That's a lot of performance for the money, need to drive one to really see if you can get past the visual issues.

I know they stopped making them but a GT350R is cheaper, has more power, looks better and has a FAR MORE exciting engine. So i'd go down that route myself.

The same could be said about the front end of the G80 series cars. Just replace the word "back" with the word "front" in the above and replace Chevy with BMW in the remainder. Is a G80 M3/M4 uglier than a C8? Beauty is subjective and in the eye of the beholder. What other car on the market today provides the same or better performance at the same price point as a base C8? Oh, and doesn't have a beaver tooth styled front grill.

This is my American Motorcycle with a 540 Scott Shafiroff engine built for the bike. Acceleration is an understatement.

It certainly is an exciting sounding engine. Too bad it burns almost as much oil as gasoline.

https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...20severe%20use.

Quote:
As marvelous as the high-revving V-8 is, its thirst for oil and gas proved insatiable. Run it hard and it will drink premium at an alarming rate. During one of our mountain blasts, the GT350 emptied its tank in 151 miles at an average of 10 mpg. Our 17-mpg test average was 1 mpg better than the EPA's combined rating, but ours includes many miles on the interstates. And then there's the oil-consumption issue: Over 40,000 miles, we added 21.5 quarts of 5W-50. That's in addition to scheduled oil changes. It's the most we've ever added during a long-term test by a long shot. Ford released a supplement to the owner's manual stating that the engine might consume a quart every 500 miles under severe use. "Severe use" pretty accurately sums up our treatment of just about any car, but particularly one with an 8250-rpm redline. And we were lucky; internet forums are rife with horror stories of Shelbys consuming far more.

With only 429tq and having to rev much higher to get it, I'd say that's a little misleading at the least. It's also a much harder-edge race car version of the Mustang, not intended to be civil or a daily driver in any way. This version of the Corvette is intended to be more of a daily/fun car and all rounder. We have yet to see the harder-edged versions that will have more punishing suspension like the GT350. It's also subjective whether you can get a GT350R for "cheaper", since they are usually subject to big dealer mark-ups.
