Very intrigued by this. The body shape is very nice. They really do have a chance to have a big win in the Sports car segment if they do this right.

Please have a manual.

About time. If the Z were a person, it's been old enough to enlist in the military!

I was a huge Nissan Fan boy until they merged with renault & mitsubishi and went down the toilet. They make complete piles of ugly junk now.

I have zero faith in nissan to pull this off right. It will be 50 grand, unreliable, ugly as shit and produced for 15 years in a row !

Agree. I lost all hope with the introduction of the Q50/60, use of s*** CVT's in ever product and deteriorating reliability. Their recent products, specifically the QX50, have further solidified my opinion of Nissan/Infiniti as a brand.

The 370 was unveiled at the 2008 LA Auto Show. It went in sale in 2009. Perhaps you are thinking of the 350.

It's the same chassis. Same thing under the skin since 2002.

and they still expect you to pay $50,000 for the nismo version which is nothing but a bunch of silly red accents. we're talking about a 20 year old chassis and a gas guzzling motor that has not significantly changed since mid 90's

Not saying it's bad given new interior, exterior, and turbo V6, but I don't think it's going to be capable of what the A90 is and might even have the same auto (Jatco 7AT) and manual (6spd) that they're using currently.

I also believe Nissan is going to charge every bit of $50k for that thing, but I've read some reports saying less (doubt it). Theyre not in a great financial position and have commented that they're looking to improve brand perception and charge more to recoup R&D costs and increase profit. Good news is that could mean better quality vehicles however, as they focus more on each individual sale vs volume.

I think if they're smart they'll try to undercut the others though, especially if they managed to save money staying on that same or nearly same platform (maybe have a bare bones version somewhere in the mid to high 40s).

They share a platform but no body panels, no interior pieces and they have a different wheelbase. If you think the 350z and the 370z are the same car, you should also think the F generation of 4-series and the 2-series are the same car, especially since the two bimmers have identical drivetrains while the nissans do not.

What do you mean, same chassis?

From Wiki

Almost every piece and component of the 370Z has been redesigned from the previous 350Z model. The wheelbase is 4 in (100 mm) shorter at 100.4 in (2,550 mm) and an overall length 2.7 in (69 mm) shorter at 167.1 in (4,240 mm). The overall width has been increased by 1.3 in (33 mm), the rear track by 2.2 in (56 mm), and overall height reduced by 0.3 in (7.6 mm). The smaller exterior dimensions and use of more lightweight materials helped reduce weight.

The same chassis, being the FM. You're right that they adjusted the subframes, but the same way that tons of cars share the VW MQB or MLB chassis. The thing is ancient, even if it has a little fresher lipstick.

And yes, an F22 and an F32 are very similar. Much closer than the dumbing down the E82 took from the E92 chassis.

OMG, they are not the same chassis.

You don't think they're both the FM chassis? Okay, say hi to Albuquerque.

Heh, i agree they are the same basic chassis, but I find the 370Z gets more flack for it than most other cars.

For instance:

That's factually correct (except for the mid-90's part, i think he meant mid-2000's.) But what do you expect Nissan to do? Dodge sold more than twice as many challengers in 2019 as they did in 2009. And that car is based on a 90's E-Class Mercedes.

The VQ motor was introduced in the 1995 maxima with a 3.0 liter. The 370z runs the 3.7l version of it. How has the 370z change in over a decade for them to justify a 50 grand price tag ?

I will gladly own another Z. I had a 350z MT for 7 years loved that car! Ended up trading it for a FRS MT but only kept that for a couple years.

Lack of MT will be the dealbreaker though. Only reason I haven't bought a Supra yet. Oh and if they stick a 4 cylinder in it that too will keep me away. Definitely gotta have a 6 cylinder twin turbo.

Can't say I have high hopes given what I've seen from Nissan and Infiniti over the past few years. Seems like they are just phoning it in. Design looks nice from what little you could see in the video.

I use to really like the 350 and 370z. I also liked the G37 and I owned an EX35 which I loved. However it seems to me they have done nothing since then.

I have read at least 400hp and $40k. If this holds true, it will be a VERY in demand option and rightfully so!
