I agree. My SS 36mm DJ looks good on my 7 1/2 wrist. It’s also more comfortable than my SS Sub Date. I actually wear it more than my Sub.

That Yacht Master looks great.

I just watched Chris D'Elia's stand up and saw his rolex. Kind of made me want one. However, I remember seeing a guy in SilverLake with a gold rolex and it made me want to find a 144mo loan to get it, haha.

Wow just saw a gold daytona costs $40k.... umm... I know RV loans give longer terms. Anyone know anyone selling an RV for $100 with a gold daytona wrapped around the steering wheel? haha

gold or SS - luckily it's a question will never really have to ponder or answer, haha

Rolex and Patek pricing has been going through the roof, not sure if anyone has noticed.

the Patek sport models have doubled in the last 3 years and are complete unobtanium new from an AD.

Rolex sport models have performed almost as well.

I'm not a Patek Philipper fan (I could be a flipper for it lol ) but they're very very hard to buy not just from price wise .
Being a Rolex fan I concur with your thoughts from bottom to the roof
You know we have a Sky Dweller sample that can demonstrate how a slow seller model could transform into a hot seller cake model when constructed from stainless steel as well

i really like the skydweller and would definitely own one but only in white gold.

as the stainless prices keep creeping up it is forcing up the gold ones too which were static for a while and always easy to get a discount on new.

It is an old school analog watch that is self winding. They are certified chronometers.

No disadvantages that I know of. I own two Rolexs.

Unless you "buy stupid", you're almost guaranteed to not lose money.

(and by "buy stupid", I mean paying super-inflated gray-market pricing).

I could flip my Sub for several thousand more than I paid for it from an AD with little to no effort-- and that's after only a year.

Like my wife says-- the only things we have that aren't depreciating assets today are my Rolex and her diamond tennis bracelet!

Unless you splurge upon a hefty sump of money on gold , platinum models even if there's a loss it would be minimal or not as much as other brands .
However , let alone a loss from my own experience , after 3 years of ownership I was able to sold my Rolex Daytona 116500 LN 1.5 times as much price as I bought when it was new .
Bear in mind those models Daytona , Sky Dwellers (stainless steel ) and some other stainless steel Rolex watches are anything but possible to buy at the list price .
If you don't pay over premium or above the list price for any Rolex then your best bet could be buying a two tone sport models or Datejust
I don't see a disadvantage of owning a Rolex at all . It's the most recognizable watch brand of the planet

And the shortage on steel watches is even greater now due to the Pandemic. I was at my AD today purchasing a Panerai Submersible, and I inquired about a new Rolex. He could have gotten me the two-tone Submariner (blue face) or any of the precious metal pieces, at MSRP, today, but a steel submariner/GMT/Daytona... the wait list is years unless you purchase grey market and pay a 20-30% (or more) premium or buy used (and still pay a premium over MSRP).

From Everest:

"Rolex has, in fact, reopened its Swiss headquarters as well as the production sites in Switzerland. Other Swiss watch companies (including Patek Philipe, Swatch Group Brands, LVMH Brands, and Breitling) have also opened their doors - allowing the watchmakers to return.

With health security measures recommended by the Swiss government, Rolex manufacturing cannot return to its full capacity. Rolex rarely releases watch production numbers to the public, but they did note that we may see 160,000 less Rolexes this year (about 16.4% of its yearly releases).

This tells us they aim to release 975,610 models this year (which means they average 1 million a year typically)."

If consumers think a Rolex was expensive before wait until the market does a price adjustment based on demand.
