A beautiful doggie!
Do you have experience with that kind of blood line?

A "pitbull" you mean?

Yep, lots of family history. My sister currently has two and my brother lost his (mostly) American Bulldog about 2 years ago.

Thanks! Yeah, she's pretty friggin' cute.

Actually I mean a Pittie, AmBull, or Rottie!
Good for you, though, especially for rescuing.

My brother had a Rottie when we were just out of school - my very good friend had one and lost her to cancer about a year ago, but I've never owned a Rottie.

Not sure what my sister's dogs' genetic makeups are - I don't think she's had their DNA tested. She runs the local chapter of the Humane Society, though, so this family is BIG on adopting needy pets. Our orange cat was adopted, too.

Good looking pooches you got there!

Pits get such a bad rep. They are good, loyal dogs. It’s not the dog/breed. It’s how they were raised.

He's a standard poodle, best puppy we've ever had!
We've had 4 standard poodles (3 black and now an apricot) and wouldn't have any other dog. Our current one just turned 5 months old on Saturday and was 46 lbs. They do grow so fast!!

Yeah we're in love with him. They're such great dogs!

So 46lbs at 5 months...that's tracking to be close to 90-95lbs full grown

What you say is true, but:
Pitties are only bad if they get into a fight.
They are very capable dogs, bred by humans to fight to damage or even kill, which is unlike natural dog behavior, which is to get submission, but not to damage the other dog too much. Generally speaking, most other breeds will stop fighting sooner.
The 'pack' breeds are indicative of this less damaging behavior. The packs need a hierarchy, but a dog which damaged another pack dog meant the owner lost money, and that 'alpha' dog wasn't bred.

This is Jasper, he’s more or less a demon from hell. He’s 11 months old.

This is Sophie, she’s 12 years old.

And gone but not forgotten, the smartest dog ever...Levi, who passed last year at 15.

Haha, yep. Finn sees snow and just keeps napping. He likes the outdoors, just not when its wet, he likes to lay in the sun/shade, especially on top of all my plants! He's a bit of a diva, but we love him. Adorable Sheltie's you have too!

Owen got a new rescue sister yesterday. She's an 8wk old lab/pit mix. Her mom was a gorgeous 85% chocolate lab mix.

Needless to say that we're smitten

I have some in mind already based on inputs from friends, family, vets, and the Breeder herself for our new puppy coming to us next month.
But I would like to hear from you all on your "Preferred Dog/Puppy Food" and why?
Let's discuss....

We feed our female Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream Salmon Puppy Food and will switch her over soon the the adult version of the same.

https://www.jakespetsupply.com/colle...mon-puppy-food

We like salmon as the first ingredient and it helps her coat look great. The food has good reviews, she likes it and ingredients overall seem healthy to us (and she is healthy). Also it is easy to find as our preferred pet supply store stocks it.

The male adult was eating Fromm’s, which is also very good, but he has an issue with crystals in his urine and is now on prescribed food from Royal Canin.

For the most part, I wouldn’t overthink it. There are some who swear by raw diets and some (like us) that prefer kibble.

Also, you didn’t ask, but we have fixed feeding times with no grazing throughout the day. We started with 4x/day as puppies, then 3x, then 2x, then 1x around the time they reach a year old. The males we’ve had devour everything immediately. The females sometimes eat everything, sometimes don’t. We throw away what they don’t eat within 15 minutes of putting it out.

I appreciate the detailed response Rick and I have heard of this brand. I definitely plan to use a healthy dry kibble food. I've wondered how dogs like salmon or seafood in general?

I sort of think people food is bad enough, with dog kibble being like the floor sweepings. Then they add some vitamins.
So we use about a half cup of kibble as a vitamin supplement, which makes Onlow's meals ~ 3/4 people food. Raw beef or cooked chicken, sweet potato is his starch of choice lately, and some vegetable, which should be steamed or frozen to help break the cell walls.
Onslow also gets a raw chicken wing each morning, which gives him the essential 'bone' vitamins & minerals, often missing from home cooked meals.
