I would get the C6Z.

I would love an E36 M3, but you'll have to spend $3-4K above that $10k just to make it safe to drive. Don't trust the sellers' claims of maintenance 100% obviously. I've shopped E36s with a buddy who has 3 - one is a dedicated track rental car. Just off the top of my head:

- cooling system update (might as well replace belts and pulleys while your at this)
- replace all perishable rubber parts
- RTABs
- rear subframe reinforcement
- rear shock tower mounts/reinforcements
- replace all fluids
- replace guibo

Other Common issues include: SRS sensor failure, dead pixels, delaminating of interior parts, drivers seat leather cracking, pitted headlights and foglights, headliner, speaker dry rot, rust, metal fatigue of front strut tower and rear shock towers.

Hope this helps!
I could get about 340rwhp if I decide to install cams and a CSL airbox. But all of that would cost around $5k. I'd just supercharge it at that point.

You do realize I'm no stranger to that list, right? I've done or thoroughly inspected every item you mentioned on my E46 since they share the same issues. Side note, replacing the RTABs was the biggest bitch ever. My car had the old style where you had to remove the lip first. It was awful. That's a job I'd happily pay someone to do. Let me see if I have a photo of the aftermath of the RTABs.

Yeah, the Rogue car.... Not sure what it has but it is a blueprinted built motor. I don't recall what it sounded like at idle but don't think it was lumpy. A partial list here from their site...no mention of cams:

Engine

Custom RACE software by VF Engineering
ROGUE ENGINEERING RACE PULLEY KIT
ROGUE ENGINEERING PERFORMANCE ENGINE MOUNTS
ECIS E46 M3 INTAKE
ROGUE ENGINEERING RACEBRACE
ROGUE ENGINEERING SILICONE INTAKE BOOT
RPI INTAKE SCOOPS
ROGUE ENGINEERING VANOS OIL LINE
ROGUE ENGINEERING EGR BLOCKOFF PLATE

Hehe, you know that I know that you know I am no stranger to that list either...

Yeah similar issues indeed. The E36 carries a few more issues probably just due to age.

Getting a Honda service while being a Patel is fun.

The SA comes into the waiting room, and proclaims "Mr. Patel, your car is ready". Instantly, 3-5 Patel's stand up, walk towards the SA, and see that it's not their car. On the return trip back to their seats, they strategically refill their foam coffee cups, and grab a few sugar cookies.

A few moments later, the owner of the car emerges from the bathroom, and claims his vehicle...not before refilling his coffee cup of course.

I think the E36 has more rust issues if anything.

Here's a pic of one of the RTABs.

So great... I imagine it like this...

SA: *Walks into room* Mr Patel?
14 Patels stand up.
SA: It's a Civic
only one (the rich one) sits down
SA: Has a Hindu god statue on the dash
only 2 sit down
SA: Modded
no one sits down
SA: Silver
still, no one sits down
SA: *says fuck it and reads plate number*

So the piece of metal/rubber that's bent up around the 10 o'clock area used to be flat and around the whole bushing. It sat flush with the trailing arm. I decided not to purchase BMW's $600 RTAB removal tool and used a ball joint press instead. But for the ball joint tool to work, I had to get rid of that lip on the bushing. Since the metal part of the bushing is aluminum, I got an air hammer, threw a chisel on there and started cutting away. Once I got most of the lip removed/bent up, the ball joint tool could work. But since the bushings were still original and aluminum swells when it corrodes, I struggled pushing it out. If my buddy wasn't lending a hand, there's no way I could have finished it in a day. It was such a bitch. If I ever have to do it again, I'm going with the poly ones that just pop in.

Yeah, it's not a fun job.

Looking back at all my pictures, I should really start a build thread.
