they always leave room for improvement. The brakes, although not sure how functional they are... already look puny too.

This is the 340i model. Gotta wait for the M3 (The Z06). That will be the real deal supercar killer.
I'm waiting for the "Grand Sport" model. Z06 looks, with base engine.

I prefer the more aggressive looks with proper wheel/tire package (not found on the base or 1st year models), but I also care about a balanced total package. The Z06 from C6 and up kills the balance of the car.

Although I think this gen Z06 might be AWD. Even so, 2.8 0-60 is PLENTY fast. Just give me the more aggressive looks

Can't wait to snag one of these when my Hellcat lease is up in a couple of years. Should be perfect timing to get a decent deal and have the bugs worked out. Grand Sport will hopefully be out by then as well.

You make a good point BUT, while mass-produced, I have my doubts it will be mass-purchased leading to somewhat of a limited availability for those that view it as "collectable."

Now, if GM were to produce a duplicate 53-58 Vette with updated running gear - unlike that hot mess T-Bird update Ford came out with a few years ago - I'd be all over that......

There might be a ten to fifteen minute window where dealer mark ups are still in play that this might hold true. But two or three months in this will have no chance of holding water.

Have you guys ever seen production numbers for the C7? They sold tons of them, considering what kind of car it is. For the 2017 MY they sold 32k, which is actually down from the year prior. Porsche sold about 10k 911s that year, from what I can find online. Ford sold about 900 GT350s that year.

So yeah, a Corvette is not really "rare" when you look at similarly-priced sports cars.

Apparently C7 Corvettes have been made with a single production shift per day. Chevy is doubling that with two production shifts for the C8.

My comparison is either a M340i at ~$65k or a C8 for ~$75k.
Yes I'm cross shopping those two vehicles.

only thing I don't like about the C8 are the stock wheel choices...so I took some liberties and gave it a few different looks...

That's great news. By next April there'll be such a glut of C8 Corvettes sitting on the lot, what with older Corvette owners holding out on the Z06 models and 'verts (typically the Z06 model follows about 1-1.5 year after the base model is released) that GM will be throwing massive, 15-20% discount on every single Stingray model on the lot.

Which is pretty much the pattern, by year 2 there's such a crazy glut of these cars that most dealership can't move. The big national Corvette dealers can have up to 100 Corvettes all sitting on their lot at any given time. That's been GM's model, to pump out more cars than dealerships can sell and let them deal with moving it.

Some on the Corvette forum are speculating that GM is going to sell 50,000 C8s per year...Think about it, even if they manage to convert EVERY SINGLE 911 sale to a Corvette C8, it still won't come to 40,000 total cars sold. Doubling the shift for C8 production just basically means that shortly after the C8 is released that everyone will be able to pick one up at discount below invoice, especially given how poorly the anything-not-an-SUV-or-Crossover market has been doing in the last 3-5 years.

Should be able to walk in and do the same thing I did, offer a local dealership 25% off of MSRP and walk out with a brand new Corvette on the same day without negotiation.

I can't recommend MacMulkin enough for a Vette dealer.

I think the car is good looking from most angles; the question is this: Well put together? I had one a long time ago and hoping it is better.
The heat factor: in the old Vettes, your foot might burn up a little-will your back and rear feel the engine heat to a ridiculous point?
Could be like "sweatin to the oldies". Looks nice-hoping it is fun to drive as it looks.

Looks like you used the "Print Screen" button. There is a "Camera" symbol on the left side of the screen that let you save the image in .jpg format.

Mass produced but not mass purchased?

What do you think happens to all the car that gets produced and doesn't sell? They cut prices till someone buys them. As long as there is supply there will always be demand unless it is a 160K NSX.

It's cool how in addition to a "regular" red (or gray) interior, with red console and red seats, the LT3 can also option either individually. So you can have a black console with red seats, or a red console with black seats. With gray this might be helpful to have a black seat for wear, but still have a gray console.
