2023 Z4 - No Apple carplay or Alexa
Just received our BMW Z4 Built just this February 2023 and delivered to us today. Some troubling news from Dealer stating that new Chip was used, thus rendering Apple Carplay and Android equivalent useless until they can push new software. I also tried adding Alexa, this also is part of that issue. I am just curious as to whether any others faced this problem or even if it is a problem or just something on my build.
If anyone has any feedback please help. Matt |

This seems bizarre, and no one else has reported this to my knowledge.
I would question the dealer a little further. Even basic cars have Carplay and Android Auto, so there's no way I would accept any reason for it not being on a premium car like the Z4. Charles

I can't imagine that BMW would put chips in that don't support CarPlay. OTOH clearly you were told that - what the hell is going on these days. |

Heading back to dealer....so frustrating.
I see two options... 1. have them keep car and provide us a loaner until fixed 2. bite the bullet and order a new one let them deal with hassle. So frustrating as the process took 4 months. |

You are the only recipient of a 2023 model that has reported this issue. As previously suggested, definitely call the BMW Genius before the dealer gives you a BS story.

UPDATE
Dealer took car, stated they will fix. If they can't will order a new one. I also have recieved a loaner car. Not sure what else i could or should of asked for. Will post results in next week how this gets resolved. |

I thought about it, but i felt the were going to put me through the troubleshooting i had already done. The final reason I decided to go back to dealer was i asked BMW assistant AI to switch to Apple Carplay and the answer was "Apple Carplay is not installed"

The only reason why I suggested calling Genius line was to ascertain whether or not they were actually 2023 models being shipped without the CarPlay feature. Something sounds fishy to me as you are the only one that reported having this issue.

Due to a shortage of semiconductors, head units without Bluetooth were used for a period of time.
The 6P1 in the option code indicates that. I do not know if that was used on the G29 for the US market. |

Thank you all for feedback! The dealer was able to rectify. It turns out that factory had to send a reset code to the car of some sorts to reinitiate the install. Long story short...I am in business with Carplay and Alexa!
