TAZ007 congratulations on finally getting your car. I can only imagine how frustration your experience has been.
I really, really hope that your experience has been noted by the people at BMW and it doesn't happen to anyone else, especially since I just placed my order!

Side markers - I'd smoke to tone down the orange (or swap for paint matched). Rear markers - I'd smoke if I was smoking the tail lights and could get some reasonably consistent color result (or paint match). What's your final vision? |

My vision goes away from flashy and more toward stealth. Albeit, with this ride it'll be an impossible task. Those body lines really shout aggressive sports car. |

I did contact BMW Genius and they said that the production should be scheduled to be finished around the 20th of this month, although it could change. They said process for the port should take about 3 weeks at the most. I should get it by the first week of October. If that's the case, then it's way faster than what my salesman told me, where he said it's going to take like 5 months. |

This was my timeline:
104 days or 3 months and 12 days order to delivery. I should note that it probably would have been several weeks sooner if I hadn’t done performance center delivery. 3/18 - Negotiation complete and deposit placed at dealership. Impatiently waiting on a build allocation. 3/25 - Build allocation assigned. Order Received and tracking in MyBMW. I was told I had a build slot for week 18 (first week in May). 4/16 - Production Begins - I was shocked to see the build started 3 weeks early 4/22 - Exterior assembly begins 4/23 - In Paint Booth 4/26 - Entering Assembly Line 4/27 - Quality Check 4/27 - Awaiting Carrier Assignment 5/4 - Dispatched from Factory 5/5 - At the Port 5/10 - In Transit 5/30 - Estimated arrival at Port Charleston 6/1 - Actual arrival at Port Charleston 6/15 - Car Purchase 6/29 - Delivered - Freaking Amazing! |

I didn't have PCD and it still took 111 days! I'm thinking I'd still be waiting if I did PCD. |

I can imagine how you felt waiting, in 1989 I had ordered a Mustang GT and it took almost 4 months of waiting, so frustrating.
Funny, June 2020 I had "built" an M40i on BMW site but all I could afford was a lease for a lightly optioned 30i, I had 6 months left on my M240i lease so I was checking dealer inventories for new and on a whim also looked for used on Cargurus and a used M40i almost exactly the same as my build right down to the color combination (except I didn't want the black wheels) was at a dealer about 10 miles away in Freeport. It had 7K and were asking 60K, too expensive :-( It had been sitting since March, in July I searched again and I saw it was reduced to 55K, and said wth I scheduled a test drive and purchased it on the spot. Luckiest I've ever been buying a car. |

The ceramic I am going with is the matte version of Ceramic Pro 9H. On a separate topic, now that you seen the photos, how close are our builds? |

Assuming you got every option, we're almost identical; the differences are just the wheels and interior trim, I got gloss black for both. How do you like the Alcantara? Charles

The only option I did not get was adaptive cruise. The alcantara looks and feels awesome. The blue stiching all over the really adds to the look and is classy. The door cards have alcantara as well and it feels like suede. |
