I really dont understand the hatred for this car, maybe its cause I come from owning i shit ton of nissan so I dont see it the way some of you guys do. My fav car make is Porsche, ever since I was a lil kid, but even when I am able to buy one, I not gonna think any less of the GTR or any other car for that matter. Seems to me most Porsche owners are butt hurt cause a car far less expensive is almost as fast or faster (if you believe Nissan) than their beloved Porsches, pretty pathetic |

Im referring to your comment on the history of the vehicle. Not that racing lineage. Please don't mix the two

I was talking about racing lineage in my original post. So it seems, you were the one who mixed up the two.

I don't care if the GTR is faster around the Nurburgring, or cost half as much. I'm sure many people who own Porsches could afford a GTR, so why would we be "butt hurt"?

I'm not going to bash the GTR, but if the GTR was so great, why doesn't it compete directly and win against competitive brands from around the world on the professional level?

i think lot of people love porsche/ferrari because the actual production cars have soul and are a blast to drive. i mean if these cars are ugly as hell and drive like a toyota, no one would buy them even if their race cars won 24 races in a row. so to many enthusiast, if the gtr car deliver what they expect for a good price. why not? |

the very things that make the GT-R as fast as it is (AWD, active diff, ASC/TC, DCT, Turbos, etc.) are almost always banned or severely restricted in motorsports. case in point: which porsche is used in ALMS? |

also i don't think racing is a good measures for the street car counter part. e.g. m3 gt2 is competitive with gt3 rsr, but that doesn't mean the m3 is competitive with the gt3 rs on the street. race cars and street cars are so different IMO. Last edited by graider; 10-27-2010 at 04:57 PM.. |

1) There is a FIA GT - GTR entry using a V8. But that's besides the point, you can go back to the R32-R34 and still not find a major win in any of the cups I mentioned. 2) The Porsche 911 GT3 RSR competes in the ALMS GT2 class.

gt3rs> skyline ANYDAY.. i dont care if its a 800hp gtr
My 2 cents: Whoever buys a car based on the N-ring times is an idiot. Porsche is the COMPLETE PACKAGE. You get class, looks, handeling, and everything else. What exactly this stupid time proves is completely relative. Everything i see a gt3, gt2, or gt3rs i just Last edited by 1cleanm6; 10-27-2010 at 10:32 PM.. |

Too bias maybe? Porsche is good for sure. but Nissan deserved a nod for the great job done.

Honestly, no regular driver can sniff those times, so GTR owners acting all hard is just funny. They'd probably be lucky to do a 9:00 lap.
That said, I also call BS on their times. Porsche might be a little butt hurt, but their argument is that the 997 Turbo has a similar if not better power to weight and still can't match those times. There seems to be some truth to that. I am not saying the GTR isn't absurdly impressive and good value. I am saying their "official" numbers are questionable given what other cars with similar stats are doing. Either they have a true "Stig" driving or their cars have been slightly modified. Bottom line: I couldn't care less because 99.99% of drivers will never approach these numbers, period. Last edited by BayMoWe335; 10-27-2010 at 11:03 PM.. |

Agree with your bottom line. Also, enjoy your car.

Didnt you know? Gtr owners have small wieners lol. I heard at In n out some gtr owner claiming his car stock rips a 997tt apart at the ring. I was dying inside. Why? Because he cant even replicate that time if his life depended on it. (If the time is true afterall) Ive never heard a porsche owner even care about all of this Nissan hype, seems like they dont even care. The gtr is 3800 pounds correct? Lets not even compare it to a reg 997.2 tt pdk. The gt2rs has 620 hp and is hundred of pounds slimmer and it got a 7:18 time. Theres no way a stock gtr can do 7:20. BS |
