Advice on getting a factory ordered m40i

Hey guys first post to this forum. Looking at ordering a new m40i living in the Tampa area. I wanted to reach out to the community for some advice

1. Anyone have any idea the wait time is currently? I've heard anywhere from 4-10 weeks.
2. Any room for price negotiations on the out the door price? Is above or below msrp expected (minus, tax title, and reg)?
3. Me and the wife have our 3 and 5 series so I don't expect this car to get more than 5-6k miles per year on it. If that's the case, are any of the ultimate care plans worth it?
4. Any expirience on getting lower APR from bmw financial rather then penfed or navy federal?

Been looking everywhere for these answers so I figured I'd come to the pros.

1. Ordered mine Valentine's Day. Production started first week of April. Now at port of Bremerhaven. As of Friday no vessel assigned. I think I am looking at mid- June at the dealer.
2. I suppose there is some wiggle room on price, but I ordered Manual (took two dealers to find one that knew what they were doing). I was satisfied with MSRP given that it was first order at dealer and I wanted it.
3. My mileage will likely be in range you specified but I did not contemplate the care plans. Just did not interest me, especially given my reticence to use local dealer.
4.No idea.

It is still a beauty! 👍🏻

If you are looking for a decent discount consider using a broker. One of our forum regulars, RigaTony1982 has had great success using them. 😉

Hey there! I used Clutch Auto. Used for both my Z4 and wife’s X3:

Happy to answer any questions. With that being said, seems there’s a lot of 2024’s out there still. No change to 2025, since you’re not getting the manual. Might be able to snag a discount on one of those and not have to wait 2-3+ months.

Edit: I posted a thread awhile back about my experience with the X3. Have since gotten the Z4. https://g29.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1993402

Nah, keep your head up, be proud. You are getting the best overall combination for the Z4. Its dialed in for the best overall performance. Raps the overall performance in the best gas mileage to boot.

Only thing you are short of is some good old days nostalgia for gear rowing. Have to admit I am a nostalgia rower but not in this car.

PERFORMANCE
60 mph: 4.0 sec
100 mph: 9.6 sec
1/4-Mile: 12.4 sec
Top Speed: 155 mph

EPA FUEL ECONOMY (C/D EST)
Combined/City/Highway: 21/19/27 mpg

C/D TEST RESULTS
60 mph: 3.5 sec
100 mph: 8.8 sec
1/4-Mile: 12.0 sec @ 116 mph
130 mph: 15.4 sec
150 mph: 22.4 sec
Optional package that kills the limiter & enables speed into the 185MPH range.

Combined/City/Highway: 26/23/31 mpg

75-mph Highway Driving: 37 mpg

Personally have never seen 75/37 but I do get 83/31

RL72, don’t forget that there are certain incentives that BMW offers (Loyalty, Military, New Grad, etc.) that you may be entitled to that will help to lower the price. 😉

If you haven't, you might seriously consider a CPO or something. Let someone else take the initial depreciation and all that. Probably have some low mile pristine cars in FL. You could get it basically right away if there's one around that you like.

I ordered for the manual. If I didn't want that it'd have been a CPO all the way.

So there's no difference in options or styling in 2024 and 2025? Excuse my ignorance

Not on the automatic, no. Only change for 2025 was the addition of the manual and the two colors that you can order that are exclusive to it.

RL72, this is great advice, you are able to do a nationwide search for CPO inventory on the BMW USA website. If you find a low mileage CPO you will save a great deal of money! 👍🏻

2nd and 3rd the CPO recommendation. First 3 years are killer on depreciation, you will lose about 25k in value. In Florida means you have likely THE most potential to find pre-owned examples and be picky!

Unless you absolutely have to have new, these are sensational values used with low mileage and CPO warranty for piece of mind.

There was a used car shortage and prices for CPO’s were really high when I purchased my M40i because of the pandemic. If I were doing it allover today I would definitely go the CPO route. 👍🏻

What is the color combination and what features do you want in your M40i?

One thing with the remaining 2024s is that the MSRP will also be slightly lower for equivalent equipment.

That said, a lot of them will be "dealer spec like" (grayscale color, red or black interior, black wheels, etc) if that's what you're looking for then great, but if you had something else in mind you'll likely be better off ordering a new one.

My dealer in Ft. Lauderdale has brought in TN, PB and white Z4’s on spec.

Yeah, I agree. The dealers do seem to order these in some of the colors from what I’ve seen, and it they do order black, white or gray they seem to order them with the non-black seats to spice it up a bit.

I’m in Indian Shores. Have you looked locally? I know Bert Smith has one on the lot and my guess is you can negotiate. If you’re looking for something else call BMW of Tampa but they’ll want you to buy with a bunch of options if they’re going to slot you for an allocation. Ferman had only one person waiting for an allocation a couple months ago. Not sure if that’s changed. So, what due dili have you found out of the local dealers?

Current military incentive is $2500 (plus $500 if you're a member of BMW CCA for 1+ years, 6 months if purchasing a 3 year membership).
