Pretty fast last step
Only took 1 week from the day the boat reached the US port (Baltimore) til the car was delivered. Pretty fast.

WTF is happening? Car sitting in factory for 15 days and not even made to the port and god knows how long it will be sitting there to be shipped , this is useless waste of time !!

Can't say for sure of course, but I'd bet the site is out of date, and by a lot. I checked 1-2x a day, sometimes 3x, and it went from scheduled to paint to awaiting a carrier and then finally port, with nothing in between. Awaiting then port weren't far apart but I'd guess the others were a week or two between each of those steps.

If you want, we could try to compare some earlier dates - allocation / order, maybe when it showed going into production or paint or something. If it tracked similarly for a while, one would think it should still continue to do so. Did you order anything unusual? I guess that answer has to be no, there aren't any custom color options or anything else that would seem like it could hold it up. |

Took delivery of our Handschalter Z4 today. See pictures in the Day One Pics thread. Like many dealers do, ours showed our car on their website as one in process rather than sold. CA said they received quite a few calls on it with many trying to negotiate for it even after they learned it was a sold unit. Someone offered $10k over MSRP for CA to sell it to them rather to us.
100 mile trip back home after delivery. Purposely stayed on two lane roads with some curves for 90 of the miles and sampled interstate highway for the rest. Initial thoughts given I drove within break-in guidelines: - Overall experience was great. I am very pleased with the combination of the B58 engine, the chassis, and the transmission. Acceleration was excellent, it handled curves well, and the exhaust sound is great. Very pleased with the Artic White and "standard" Cognac interior. Handschalter 19/20" wheels look great in person. - The transmission throws are short and the shifts were crisp. I have not driven any other BMW manual transmission but I would not characterize this shifter as rubbery. - The clutch engagement point is a little high but not noticeable to me unless I was specifically thinking about it. The clutch force is on the lighter side but not to a point where it impacted the ability to modulate it. It's basically where I prefer it. - Definite difference in ride quality between Comfort and Sport Plus but Sport Plus still absorbed surface irregularities better than Magneride C7 Z51 Corvette in Touring mode IMHO. - I was pleased with the handling and steering but difficult to say too much until after break-in. - Overall I am extremely pleased with this purchase. |

When i talked to them a week or two ago they claimed that there were only 2 allocations in the Northeast up to now (maybe both in Philly, oddly enough). It appears that allocations are starting to move more generally. |
