On a side note, this thread definitely reveals who's been outside the US and who hasn't lol.
Very much so lol... I grew up the son of a oil and gas businessman so we lived all over when I was younger... we had armored cars in South Africa and Venezuela in the early 90's.

When we lived in SA, I remember people trying to car jack us being a semi regular occurrence...

The majority of Americans are clueless to how the actual world is... especially places under civil unrest... most are so sheltered in this country.

Military service also opens your eyes to the way most of the uncivilized world behaves... I think most Americans would be horrified to know how it actually goes down in most of the world... they rather watch CNN or FOX and sit in their bubble.

A lot of people's version of being "well traveled" is visiting tourist resorts for a few days at a time and saying they've "been" to X number of countries.

It's like visiting the Ritz in San Francisco for 3 days and thinking you know the US.

Coincidentally (or not), San Francisco has a pretty high number of people like that...they've been to tourist resorts in 20 other countries, but have never ventured outside of San Francisco aside from going to Burning Man, Outside Lands, SXSW, or Vegas for a birthday party.
I fully agree, and the funny thing of that all it takes is to visit another country besides Canada and stay there for a few days, to see how good we really have it here in the USA. I'm a good chunk Polish and had been there for a wedding some years ago. I LOVED it and would go back at the drop of a hat, but live there? Probably not.

But this isn't about me. It's a nice setup! Be safe OP, conceal carry (if allowed) and get a good everyday carry.

I'm from Brasil too.

Also have armored cars in my family.
Actually i'm on my third armored BMW.

2014 320i Sport GP F30
2018 320i Sport F30
2020 320i M Sport G20

In the big cities here, it's kind of common to ser armored cars.

Unfortunately, it's a reality here in Brasil.

Ah finally someone that doesn't say "lol, why, are you a drug dealer"? Thanks for your educated comment.

I grew up in Colombia and I love my country. Unfortunately, we have real problems - not the kind of "I'm debating between an M4CS and the 992 S". And real problems means hunger, lack of education, major economic disparity and thus crime. When you are uneducated, starving and have little to lose in life, you may not hesitate to become a killer for little money to maintain your household.

And to those that mention drugs, please think for a minute who are the drug consumers. Hint: Domestic consumption in South America is low...

Such an ignorant comment. I truly feel sorry for people like you. It's a big contributing factor for why the US is on a downhill trend.

It cost around USD $10 - $15K (BRL 60-90k) EXTRA to bulletproof ANY car in brazil

Not that expansive right?

because:

Brazil have highest bullet proof car ratio in the world!! (not a good thing lol) with 1% of all cars on the street armored , so its fairly common to own a bullet proof car especially in a big city like São Paulo where I live , which is one third of the entire Brazilian economy in only one estate.

This 320GT cost 15k USD to bulletproof because of his especial up and down no frame window.

How much weight it adds?

Around 200 - 300KG

Brazil has become pretty good and bullet proving their cars with more than 15 companies in the business, they have created one of the lightest and thinnest bulletproof windows without compromising the protection

Original 0-100 km/h (0/60mph) = 7.9sec

after armor0-100 km/h (0/60mph) = 9.0 sec

i thought it was to weak so i spend 500USD to do a stage 1 remap + KN boosting 184cv to 270cv

After remap with armour = 6,9 sec

*clicks * , NOICE !
Great info! I was just in Fortaleza and São Paulo 2 months ago and only went around in bulletproof cars. You're absolutely right. 👍🏼

Yeah I was thinking it would make a bit more sense from a power / suspension / etc standpoint to bulletproof an M340 or something but overall cost may be a factor too there. And if he shaved 3 seconds off his 0-60 with just a tune despite the weight, that's pretty decent still.

Seems like prices have come down a lot. 25 years ago did some work for a client that looked at and purchased residential and commercial properties in the inner city of Los Angeles and they used a bullet proof Jeep Grand Cherokee with all-in costs of over $100k.

I have, the first time being an all expenses paid six month stay in beautiful Southeast Asia, courtesy of Uncle Sam. One thing's for sure, if I had to live in a place as dangerous as where the OP does I wouldn't draw attention to my affluence by driving a BMW. I'd have a Yugo.

Indeed.
Although, watch out...someone may reply with "why explore the world? I have everything to see in the US! Why go to Paris or Egypt if we can just go to Vegas?!"
