My car is coming to Galveston, and I assume it will be on the Arc Independence leaving Bremerhaven on 3/31. That boat is hitting Baltimore, Brunswick and Galveston.

Will be hard to miss the GT4 if you rarely drive it! The Z4 will fly a little more under the radar compared to the GT4, and if that gets you out driving it more often that is a win.

I’m at my dealer and in the system it states Order Bank Status 047. Does that mean no allocation yet? My CA is new and is checking. Thanks.

Well, guess it means I don’t have an allocation. My CA called me a few weeks back and said I was in production. I told him I’m going to be calling other dealers. Dang!!!

Earlier today I posted this in another thread.

Folks, regarding allocations this was posted in the General BMW News and Cars Discussion forum by a dealer who has always been extremely helpful.

Side note on allocations for everyone.

Always remember if you do in fact have a allocation you will get a production number right away. If you are not presented one that means you do not have an allocation.

Next gen, I believe Caymans will be electric. My insurance for both cars is only like 2k a year. No maintenance required yet.

I just drove one this past weekend. I felt more comfortable in my GT4 though. The Alcantara feels a lot nicer than that weird leather.
Dont compare GT4 with Z4, GT4 is more sportier and stiffer , better looking too but i didnt like the stiff suspension in the GT4. You should compare GTS with Z4 , much more comparable although Z4 is 30k cheaper

That doesn't include the ADM and possibly a broker fee. Some large dealerships in FL haven't gotten a single GTS allocation this year.

I ordered the Frozen green color and was told that the Frozen colors add to the production time. Does anyone have an idea on how much additional time it takes? So far it seems the production is progressing fine.

I'd assume it'll need to spend more time at the paint shop.

I also went frozen Green and my car was built just as fast as any other metallic paint. Currently on a boat.

My SA also advised expect 2-3 month delay with frozen colors..

Many are clueless and might even be confusing this for the additional time it takes to order Individual colors.

Agreed.

There MAY be batching of paint, they might do a run of one color then move to the next? No idea if it's more SMED (single minute exchange of die as a concept) set up for rapid change over or if they actually batch it. But even if it's batched, then a frozen color might (might) be less popular and not done as often.

I do still think it wouldn't be several months though.

Per the configurator “This paint requires special consideration and will extend build time from the date dealer confirms the order. Please discuss this customized vehicle with your preferred BMW dealer.”

It’s like a step down from the individual options, but a step up from the normal ones. My wife was looking at an X3 in Aventurine Red, and it had the same disclaimer and we were told something similar about it taking longer.

As my Z4 is ready to head toward the port I’ve been looking for a good summary of how to track a car to the port, onto a ship, and thru to dealer delivery. This post from 2015 still appears to be the best resource. Does anyone know of a post / thread that is more up-to-date or accurate than this one? Thanks

Yup! Now awaiting carrier assignment as well! Mine will be on a different boat since it’ll be bound for Canada, but they should hang out in Bremerhaven at the same time at least!
