22-07 Update won’t start install

I was offered the 22-07 upgrade in mybmw so I downloaded it to my phone. I then downloaded it to the car and got preparation completed. It now says it will notify me when it can be installed. I fully charged the battery using the posts under the hood. Drove it while running a few errands and it still has not offered to be installed. I’m currently charging the battery again. This will be the 3rd software upgrade if done to the car. I had no issues upgrading my wife’s X5. Anyone have any suggestions?

From other forums, I read several people being told to drive for 100km, etc, give it a few days, etc.

But, the only similar stories that ended in the upgrade happening were those that charged their batt's. No, they didn't seem to have any faults, or warning lights, but hooking up to charger for few hours / overnight seemed to have been enough. Was planning on doing so today, but haven't yet.

Same is happening to me. One solution, apparently, is to delete your BMW ID and unlink from car and create a new one. I for one, won't be doing that.

Yep - dealer here told me it's due to the battery charge and to drive for an hour to get the battery charged.

For the last couple of updates I ended up going to the dealer and having them install it for me.

Silly thing is that my avg drive time is minimum an hour. With last trip being 2.5hrs, and still didn't get the upgrade prompt. I just hooked it up to a charger, and will see what a couple of hours on the juice does to the upgrade cycle. Silly for it to be that sensitive??

I have a 2019 X5. Same here. Upgrade installed and message that install would begin shortly. It’s been over 2 weeks. I’m just going to dealer next week to get finished

OK here is my update. Downloaded the upgrade a few days ago & its installing right now. 1/17 @ 4:20PM

Has not yet downloaded for the M4C.

What does this ‘update’ get you? Is it a map update also?

07/2022.58 is the latest version. Sometimes I noticed if your version is close to the last one you will not get a fresh one. No idea why.

I had the same problem. Update was already in the car since weeks, but was not installed. I've made several trips with no success. I even made an appointment to have it installed by the dealer. Then the idea came up, it might be the battery. I loaded it up and the update went through immediately. So it is actually due to the low battery level.

Fully charged mine, at least my charger said so, and still no dice. Read note on app change helping, but no dice there, either. Going to put on charger, again over weekend, and then trip to dealer for oil change (and software update request, if I can’t get it to load). First time having this issue for an update. Oil change message is the only notification or code I have, wonder if that also has an impact??

I'm stuck on 11/2021 and can't seem to get it to say I have an upgrade available. I've got an oil change due soon so worst case it'll be the dealer's problem.

Mine friking said update available, downloaded it, and now, it's effing gone. Didn't update, the update never loaded into bmw, and now the option is entirely gone. Search for updates says no update found and it's gone from bmw app too and it still shows 07/2021. I've had so many tech issues with the z4. I'm thinking of getting a 2023 740i it's such a gorgeous car.

Prior to getting version 07/2022.57 uploaded, the car said it was available but I couldn’t get it to update. So I went to the dealer, a buddy of mine is the Service manager, he said he had to manually force the upload to take for some reason, anywho it’s been working fine, that version gave me Alexa in the car and I’m sure others things that I’m not aware of.

Does anyone know if the car needs to be running to install the update? I’ve tried everything to get this thing to load and it never does it.

No it'll tell you to park the car in a safe location and then when you can exit the vehicle. Doesn't take long to get the latter message.
