7 months and 8000 miles.

Only criticisms I have currently is I do think at this price it should have cooled seats and I much prefer a powered steering tilt/telescope. Hate the Japanese style lever under the column.

Apple car play is hit and miss requiring a reset every few weeks.

Aside from those miner grievances, this car is amazing. I honestly can’t stop driving it and fully expect to purchase at lease end, or pay the mileage penalty. Don’t care! It’s worth it.

It’s just good at everything. I work 4-5 hours from where I live currently. Leave Sunday night and come home Friday afternoons. I have pretty much taken all of my cars on this weekly commute. The Z4 is by far the best. It’s a great grand tourer.

My corvette is also a great road car but is now on the more radical side of things. The SLK55 is also fine aside from interior space. However the faster you go the happier it gets. The GL550 is ok and easily does 90-100 comfortably but the seats suck. Benz seats absolutely suck.

The little Z4 trumps all of them.

What is your average mpg on these 4-5 hour trips?
Also what mode are you using?

I agree on the cooled seats. My Mazda CX-5 has them and they're great. Mazda seats actually create a vacuum and suck the cool cabin air into the seat. I doubt that would work in a convertible but I'm sure the BMW engineers can figure it out.

Your lease should work out great for you as each additional mile over your allowance is only $.25. Rack 'em up - you'll never get a better deal per mile than that. I've got a 30,000 mile allowance and plan on driving 40,000 miles. Of course, I may keep the car at lease-end so I wouldn't have to pay the extra $2,500 anyway, but we'll see.

That’s what I’m thinking. I figure I’ll be at 40k and 2500 is cheap. I need to look but I think my residual was either 43 or 46k. I’ve yet to see a used m40 under $50k.

MPG on road trips is around 28mpg. That’s doing well above the posted and in my own sport settings. Not really worried about gas though as my energy stocks are pretty much paying the premium.. 20 years ago I would be much different and thinking mpg vs ?

Good evening. I do not have a Z4 yet. I hope to have one early next year. Thank you for posting this information and review. This is exactly what I have been looking for on this forum and online - long term reviews. I love that there are only a few complaints and, as you said, they are minor. This is exciting to see.

Need to update the mpg. So this morning drove about 260miles. 33.7 mpg per car. That is pretty good for the speed etc.

I was having a hard time deciding between the C8 and the Z4. After looking at the number of vettes produced to Z4s and the comfort level between the two, I chose the Z4. My buddy chose the vette. So far I am extremely happy with my choice. My wife was happier with the passenger seat of the Z4 as well. Happy wife happy life lol. Below is my buddy's car and mine.

They are both beautiful cars and you should occasionally make a trade with your friend to see how the other side lives.

Not that its why most people buy cars, but I'm guessing he'll lap you on resale value....especially once the current market returns to something close to normal.

The overheating wireless charger is annoying

I thought my Carplay wasn't working but all the time the real problem was my phone was shutting down constantly because it overheated in the charging tray. I thought it was 100% Carplay. Everyone is using wireless charging now in their cars, hard to believe BMW's supplier couldnt sell them 1 that worked.

I have a simple solution for wireless charging and the overheating, it only costs $15.

Yep, everyone's different; cooled (ventilated) seats would be nice as would a power tilt/tele but I wouldn't want to add weight to the car either; that was an issue with my F type - power dash vents, power column, power seats, power spoiler, etc. etc........at the end you get an all aluminum, 2 seat sportscar that weighs almost 4,000 lbs!

My (very minor) gripes; cup holder design, sun visors are small and I miss the 360 degree camera and better nav that our Audi has.

All in all, I love the car and would buy it again.

I did cross shop the Vette. A) I was not willing to pay the premium over sticker. B) when they do start cranking them out there will be many folks who have found that the depreciation it’s hard when you over pay due to impatience. C) it looks like a Pontiac Aztek fornicated with a F430. I love corvettes. Sold my 62’ a couple years back and likely a couple years to soon. The C6 genera is just right IMO.

My car doesn’t have the phone charger so overheating is not the issue. I do have the usb plug just in case the battery goes low and I need to charge it.
