22-07 Update Issues

I called the BMW Genius. He said reboot system and see if bar starts moving on next drive. If not will have to go to dealer. He said this was a known issue, is covered by warranty and they are considering an alternative fix

Thanks for pointing that out. That might be my problem. I hardly ever have the parking brake activated.

Not only must you activate the parking brake but you also need to be parked on level ground. (Angle of inclination of vehicle parking space >12°)

Tried that, still no movement of bar or spinning of update circle

I asked my dealer to force the 0722 update while the car was in today for its MOT. They advised that this had been done. However I’m now back to 0321 and now the car is preparing the 0721 update which is what was already installed before they touched it! 😡

Just got back from the Dealer and had the SW upgraded as it never tried to update after it was downloaded. Here is what the Tech wrote in the ticket.

"12072 The remote software upgrage could not update due to a pre condition not being met. Verified customer concern. D1: Hooked up battery charger, performed vehicle test. Vehicle stored fault 038400 RSU vehicle end preconditions not fulfilled. No SIBs found related for fault or concern. Performed test module for fault code. Test module indicated a problem with energy reserves and perform energy diagnosis. Then program vehicle. DIAG CODE D800_RSU00000_90_214. Performed energy diagnosis. No faults found. Check battery condition. Battery is "OK". DIAG CODE D6121_00ENDDIAG_70_901. Programmed vehicle to current I-level. No faults stored after programming. Road tested vehicle to reset TPMS ."

I did charge the battery several times but it looks like that code was already there and he had to remove it to get it to install. They installed an even newer version than I knew existed.

I have a dealer appointment to fix....have to wait 22 days to get in though.

11/2022.63 installed--tech notes didn't indicate, nor did the SA get, the deets on what condition(s) precluded OTA upgrade.

Finally!! Today 0721 successfully updated on my car.

What did I do this week? Switched off auto lights, put the parking brake on, put the battery on charge for 24 hours. Lo and behold it’s done it. Now for 0722……..

Sod getting the parking brake to release as the car was wet when it was parked up.
