Do you prefer the 30i or M40i model?

I’m considering whether the 30i or M40i would interest me more... not such an easy choice.

The 30i weighs less, may handle a little better, and cost less to buy and maintain (service, gas, insurance, etc.). The M40i is quicker, and may sound a little better (engine and exhaust).

Maybe you can think of some other points of comparison. Which Z4 would be the better choice for you, and why?

(I included the 20i although not available in some major markets.)

Hey I thought you just sold your BMW and went over to the dark side Porsche. Are you switching teams and coming back?

40i
More power
Better sound
Equally equipped the $ difference shrinks to $7k, why not go all the way
In line 6 is a dying breed, enjoy it while you can

Go for the M40i, sounds great and has plenty of power and torque.

The 30i engine is also very good and, as you say, is lighter which makes the car handle a little bit better.

All down to what you are happier with, taking into account the extra cost of the M40i.
