Car Cover
Just bought a new car cover for the car. It is one of those off eBay advertised with soft cotton inside. Looks amazing and is plenty big enough. The aim was to keep dust off the car while in the garage.
When I removed the cover I was rather disappointed to see the lovely fluffy cotton was also well and truly covering the soft top surface. Took ages to remove with sticky rollers and brushes. Guess I will have to use it inside out (if at all) |

thanks for the heads up. for just a dust cover in a garage, I've had good luck with the much thinner/cheaper fabric dust covers.

Depends on the cover and the car must be clean before covering...

Depends on many factors. How clean before, where cover is stored and whether the car is covered indoor or outdoor.
My MR2 used to be stored for months outdoors with a cover on it. The winds constant shimmying of the cover did create little scratches / scrub marks in places. |

Yeah, indoors on a clean car (preferrably a freshly waxed one) and I've had no issues with rubbing or scratches. ......outside, I wouldn't use one.

car cover
I currently have a 2004 Z4 that I am trading in on an ordered Z4 M40i.
I have tried many car covers, including the one that BMW offered. My car stays in a covered carport, so the cover is mainly for dust. I have ALWAYS had trouble with the thing blowing off. I recently got this one from Carid. Covercraft® C16451PG - WeatherShield™ HP Gray Custom Car Cover more details on - https://www.carid.com/my-account/order/34297182/ I live just north of New Orleans. My area has been through 2 hurricanes recently--luckily winds only got up about 60 MPR here. Neither time did the cover come off. Its very form fitting and leaves nothing on the car or top when I take it off. Its a little more than I wanted to spend, but its worth every penny. I've already ordered a new one for my new M40i. |
