Cerium Grey Wheels
Is there any consensus on the best product(s) to use for cleaning and protecting the Cerium grey wheels? Brake dust seems to glue itself to the matte finish areas and all the creases in the wheel design makes it even harder! Thanks in advance!

Any good ceramic coating on the wheels will help make them easier to clean. I use Griots Heavy Duty Wheel Cleaner. A good spray-let them soak a bit then use a flexible wheel brush to break it all loose. A rinse with the hose followed by a wipe down with a microfiber towel. It's not hard but it takes time. Cleaning the wheels takes longer than the rest of the car.

Agreed on coating them of course. As for products I've researched a little bit and I'll say that they're all about the same to be honest. All are similar in formula with similar results.
The Turtle Wax "Hybrid Hyper Foam" is probably among the best values, getting more for the dollar. Adam's products are great, as are those from Sonax, in my experience. I'm certain Griots and others are good as well. A couple dedicated brushes designed for the job help a lot as well. Some long fuzzy ones to get between spokes and into the barrels, something soft and with a huge face to clean the surfaces. Something slightly stiffer for the tires too if you don't mind starting a small collection. It can all fit in a small bucket you just grab and haul out when it's wash day, move it form one wheel to the next as you go along. There's a specific section of the forum dedicated to detailing, you may want to browse around there. Any good answer found there will apply. |

I agree with ceramic coat. It doesn’t diminish the amount of dust, but it makes it very easy to clean.

I've had good luck with Sonax wheel cleaner. Works pretty well. I'm always on the lookout for a cheaper alternative, because it's quite EXPENSIVE.
I haven't found a wheel protectant that works as well as the claims. Especially against BMW OEM pad dust. |
