slapped a G35 owner today...

Nothing too incredibly interesting, but I drove yet another 330 today and part of the way back to the dealer there was a gunmetal- ugly as sin- G35 right in front of me, he shifted down purposely to piss me off, the salesguy gave me the 'ok" and I floored it, managed to make eye contact w/ the G35 driver as I passed I could tell he felt embarassed as he slowed down and stopped further behind me at the stoplight w/ NO car in front....Goodtimes.

if he let you floor it, wouldnt that go against the break in, in case someone was to buy that off the lot?

Hey puck, I Live in Sydney Australia and I have had 3 testdrives. 1 with the dealer and 2 without. The dealers I have met with let me have free reign of the cars without holding me back. So it might be against engine break in protocol but they dont seem to care about this when a potential sale is in their crosshairs

Only if you really beleive in the whole break-in procedure thing (of which there is LOTS of conjecture and religous war level debate, but very LITTLE evidence). Even so, kissing the redline a couple of times on a new motor will have a statistically insignificant effect on the motor's life.

I am planning on picking up my E92 auf deutsche, you think I'm gonna baby it on the 'Ring?

Less people think I am a total idiot, I would rip the head off of someone who drove my car, with a cold engine, above 4000 RPM. That will fuck up a motor most ricky tic.

There have been threads about this in the past.
My dealer told me to floor it & red line it with 25 Km on the clock
That's why I would never buy a Demo.

i've been on test drives from hell with some of these dealers, both the bmw and audi salesman scared the shit out of me when they were driving the car to the test drive area.

and how'd you smoke a g35? it must have been a sedan right?

you know it's really funny, this morning my boyfriend and I were both debating which is faster: the g35 coupe or the 330i. when we went out to eat at wendy's we saw a g35 racing a 330i and they were both dead even down the road, neither pulled away. it isn't everyday that you get to live out an arguement nearly hours afterwards in real life, hahaha. also, i'm very impressed that the 330i could keep up so well with a coupe that has 20 more hp and 30 more torque (assuming it was not a 2005 model that has the power increase)

Several comments about drag racing in this thread prompted me to respond. Drag racing is not what sports cars are about for goodness sake!

I suppose if you don't let a potential customer fully test out all the car's capabilities, I agree, you may lose a sale by restricting the test drive. Just shows how damn good the engines really are if they can be gunned from so early on in their lives.

So if you are impressed with the (test drive) performance before the engine has really broken in, well how will you feel once it has and you really have the full potential of the car's performance at the ball of your foot.

To the dealers, a few cars to really drive the living daylights out of costs very little in the overall scheme and it is great feedback to the designers, engineers and factory as well during full production car real world tests.

It only helps to develop an even better car.

That was the last thing on my mind, truly. The G35 was indeed a sedan.
