▀▄ eas | 2020 Z4 M40i vs 2020 Toyota Supra Baseline dyno - Dynojet
Here's a baseline comparison of the new G29 Z4 vs A90 Toyota Supra. All runs are on CA 91 octane, measured at the wheels on our dynojet.
While both are B58 based, the Z4 sees a 48whp gain up top compared to the Supra. Enjoy.

Thanks for sharing these results. They align with my expectations, based on my research into the versions of the B58 each in each car.

Not same day, but within a few days of each other. Weather has been relatively cool/stable these last few weeks.

Thanks. So far this is the only comparison of the NA Z4 vs. the Supra on the same dyno that I'm aware of and provides a valuable comparison point.
Cheers, Dave |

Really doesn't surprise me. Just makes me excited about two things.
1- how much power the s58 can/will make 2- how much power they're going to be able to squeeze out of the b58. I figure with it being in the Supra and with rumors of a manual Supra coming, the b58 will see the highest numbers it physically can. Maybe N54 and beyond? |

Toyota really needs to just customize the tune on the Supra to bring it up to par...car would be so much more amazing with that extra 50hp.

It is a fast car as is. If you compare it to Z4 M40i, in every video i've seen it is faster. Track and straight line. I haven't driven one, but i'm sure it's really fun |

There's some confusion because the American Z4 M40i has significantly more power than the European Z4 M40i. They use different versions which are advertised at having just about a 50hp gap. The Supra is a bit lighter, I believe, which is why in the most European tests done so far, it has been faster than the Z4.

Can it be like m340 first batch was more powerful then next ones? 😆

That torque curve on the Supra though... am I reading this right? +50wtq on top of the Z4 @ 2.5krpm? Are the turbo PNs different?
Looks like a much smaller turbine on the Supra (+ some software castration) to yield that tq curve but lack of hp up top. With this chart - Supra should be way more fun to drive around town, it's also 200lbs lighter. |

718 S. I agree, it seems, and probably is, awesome. I just think it easily could have been better out of the box.

It may sound cliche but I stared at a Kia parked outside a cafe for five minutes today and thought "wow, the new Z4 is very sad because of the 90% similarity."
