Do higher gas prices = Eco Pro mode?

With gas prices skyrocketing have you started to use the Eco Pro mode more often for your everyday driving?

Sport Individual -- even coded it to start that way, always -- Auto Start/Stop disabled permanently -- Auto Hold on permanently -- there is only one way to drive this car-- fast, and fun.

No on Eco/ anemic mode but adaptive seems to be an improvement over comfort for efficiency and power when you need it.

Coded adaptive as default mode when first starting the car. Not so aggressive but ready to be it. Sometimes there is no time to reach the sport plus button immediately.

No. No change in my default sport+shifter left. Have always run adaptive on long interstate runs so am good as is.

Can do 80MPH+ @ 30MPG+ in Adaptive door to door Raleigh to Ocean Island Beach a bit over 200 miles. Refuel at both ends to start but believe I could make the run out & back on a full tank.

No. Several years ago when I was on a cross country trip in my 435i, I decided to test ECO mode. I was keeping an eye on the miles to empty display to see how many extra miles I could build up. I had ACC on, but I was on two lane roads in Texas, so the speed limit was 75, but I was being very gentile with the gas pedal. Every time I came upon a slow poke, I would pass them with very little extra gas so that it would take a bit of time to pass (not my usual way of passing on a two lane). Every time I passed someone, I would check the miles to empty display and it showed that I had lost all of the few mile I had built up by using ECO mode. I put the car back into Comfort mode and completed my trip. After the trip my car was showing that I averaged 36 mpg for the trip (N55 engine). That trip proved to me that ECO mode wasn't worth it.

I haven't tried using the Adaptive mode yet, does it make a big difference in your mileage stats?

I've been testing it for a couple of weeks and I get better mileage than comfort mode and only use eco mode in stop and go traffic.

The times I punched it in adaptive, it came alive like sport mode than back to my eco friendly mode. it really adapts to your current style.

Not a big difference over comfort but a difference. Normally I used the Comfort setting on interstate trips so 8th gear would kick in....That's the biggy compared to leaving it in Sport or Sport + for the trip & 7th gear top end.

Tried it as an experiment & it was a why not do it thing afterwood. Been using it since for trips.

What I was trying to find out if I could notice any changes in suspension based on navigation system GPS input. Not sure because there is not much variance in the road surface once you are out of town.

No interest in ECO it neuters the car.

Nope; my Z4 M40i is the most economic vehicle in my stable regardless of what mode it's in.

I think Adaptive also uses data for more efficient shifting.

So should I put the car in Comfort mode and then press on Adaptive?

Just press. Definitely encourage trying if you haven't yet. I think of it as smart mode.

Adaptive is just one of the modes, you don't need to press Comfort first.

If I were concerned about the cost of gas I'd have purchased a Prius. So...no.
