I am too lazy to change mine but if I did I would probably select the BMS Billet Strut Cross Braces that cost $279 + shipping.

My current 4 series I think I’ve opened the hood maybe twice in the 8 years I’ve owned it. These look great but I’d never see them lol.

It's a 10 minute job.

I'm looking at this as well when my M40i arrives. It definitely is more asthetically pleasing. Among other things, Burger claims "Improved chassis rigidity and structural integrity." Only the guys that have installed these can tell if they actually feel any difference.

I didn't notice any difference however, I don't drive it hard enough to notice. I can say it looks better.

Don't expect any difference in feel because the ugly one and the good looking one both serve the same function.

Remember, looks will always make it faster. Change the oil? Definitely an improvement in performance. Washed with a nice ceramic coating? Faster (less drag). Vacuumed the carpets? Oh, yeah, that’s speed right there! Ka-chow!

me and the tuner may be the only people who get to see it, but it's still one of my favorite parts of the car :-)

AlZ4, that looks great, better than flat black paint. I need to shop around for a powder coater.

You forgot that having a beautiful co-pilot in the passenger seat makes the car look sleeker!

I didn't have any torx sockets, but an 11 mm 12 point socket fits and if you don't have that, a 7/16 12 point works, but doesn't fit as well.

i was wondering what the actual bolt size was so that I could order black ones to go with my black Burger cross brace, rather than powdercoat them. Any idea? I can't find a part #.

I was looking for those too and the only ones I was able to find on the Burger web site were for a VW.

I did find them on REALOEM. #7 in the link.
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=51_A433

FCP Euro has the stock bolts and calls them "BMW Hexagon Screw With Flange (M10X45) - Genuine BMW 51716966566", but I was unable to locate any that seemed to be the replacements in black. The ones I did find were $10 each. Wonder what the cost is to have them powder coated.

You are probably better off just buying them. The cost to powder coat is probably about the same or more (setup tends to be a fixed cost/time). I might have a go powder coating them, to see how they turn out (doing small parts at home is relatively easy: I’ve done a few bits a pieces in the motorcycle).

Anyone know what the torque is, beyond gutentite?

I may just try taping off around the bolts and paint them with a brush.

What about these? They (look like they're) black, same part #, but not torx head:

It looks like they should work. They say they are M10x45 just like the stock bolts.

There is a bolt store not very far from my house, I may pull one of the bolts out and take it to them to see if they have anything which will work.
