First Wash

Finally had some nice weather - perfect for giving my car a thorough detailing. Used Adam’s Iron Remover spray, Meguiar’s clay bar kit, and after a final wash and rinse, I applied Meguiar’s Hybrid Ceramic Wax.

General observations: this G29 is deceivingly bigger than my E85. The quality of the build and materials (fit and finish) is well above that of my beloved 2007 Z4.

Cool how different colors (and lighting) enhance the stunning curves and angles on this car.

‘65 13 window deluxe is my newest project.

Very nice! Yeah I've seen first hand how much that iron remover can get off of a car, especially a white one where you really see the little purple streaks running down.

Love the Alpine White.

Wild how much that iron remover finds! I’m going to have to add that to my protocol.

What’s the plan for the van?

Fully restore it. Engine is great and there is some rust in the usual places. It’s a Deluxe Walk-thru (rare); great thing is my wife loves to drive it (she can drive a stick like nobody’s business).

We restored a ‘71 Bay window bus and sold it. Wife really missed it so I found her this split-window bus. It’s a lot of fun.

Here are a few pics of “Stella Blue”…

Yes - I was amazed at how easily the contaminates came off. The clay bar picked up any specs that the Adam’s didn’t remove.

Fun and easy job; the Meguair’s Hybrid Ceramic wax is amazing. Really pleased with the results.

That is awesome! Are you going to document the rehab? That would make a cool thread.

I can only image that if you drive the Z4 right after driving the bus that the BMW must feel like a rocket!

For sure! 1500 cc 55hp = 0-60 time of - nah, forget about it!

The bus is truly fun to chill out in - never in a hurry because you can’t be!! My sDrive 30i has already gotten me pulled over by a trooper (warning only). I’d be constantly worried in an M40i - just too much for my daily drive.

Not saying I wouldn’t love it, but my car provides PLENTY of quick, twitchy fun and I’m not in jail!
