I'm curious about this too - what are the differences really besides less mess? My co-workers invited me to play airsoft this October and I'm not totally sure how it all works...

I already looked at some reviews of stuff at PBGuy because they cover airsoft and paintball stuff but I haven't found much on actual game play....

I think it is more of an alternative to paintball. They still hurt noticeably but not like a paintball. It seems like you only wear face protection, so you'll definitely feel them if they hit you.

I play airsoft on a regular basis and belong to a team. Its kind like paintball which uses air to propel the plastic BB. It still hurts that why we have rules as to how fast the BB should travel like less than 350 feet per second, etc. Eye protection is a must obviously but we wear pretty much full gear with BDUs, plate carriers and the like.

Um yeah. Doesn't even work in paintball when people are wiping paint or refs don't catch a hit.

Best way is to keep tagging them until they raise their hands

Summed up very well! Thanks for pointing out the need for eye protection as well. In my airsoft guide I have written extensively about the dangers of shattered BBs or involuntary head shots.

As for the full gear, as I like to say - airsoft is half combat sim half fashion show

It's for sure a cool sport but you are right it's a gentlemen sport where you have to call your hits. So you can of course cheat but on the other hand I can guarantee you that you will be sprayed with BB's if you do

Some questionable muzzle integrity. The facility is very cool, must of cost a ton to set up. We did similar training using SIM rounds when I was still on the job. Can be a lot of fun.

Cool video!! This might be an old post, but I loved how you captured it at that time! I am a new airsoft player and I feel in love with the game. I was searching for some pro tips. I found this article Best Airsoft Guns from google. I liked how they recommended airsoft guns from a different perspective. I am planning to get a Lancer Tactical LT-12 gun. Hope it will help me!!
