I think he will go for 8, and then retire. By then he will have over 110 wins, and be the first to beat MS record. This way he will solidify his achievement in both metrics, and consider this as a proverbial bird to his haters.

Than he can enjoy almost a decade before he could be dethroned. Or longer.

That’s what I would do in his shoes.

Here is my prediction:

9-10 WDCs

117-120 wins. 125-130 poles.

He will sign a 3 year contract and hang it up thereafter. If he averages 8-9 wins per season, the number is easily doable.

At that point, it will take someone to have a nearly 20 year run to exceed his performance. The math is very much against it but one never knows.

Hamilton has so many things he wants to do. IMO he's already lost the fire, he's just that much better than everyone else so keeps winning. He'll keep going long enough to secure his legacy, then hang it up. It's history that's important to him now, not so much racing.
