This conversation/argument has been taking place in almost every other F1 thread, particularly those about HAM. I'm an unabashed and unapologetic Lewis Hamilton fan. I've been watching his career since 2004/2005 and F1 in general for over 45 years.

There are those here that are unapologetic Max Verstappen fans and I actually have no problem with that.

Where my problem exist is that a narrative exist that Max is a candidate for GOAT after 9 wins, 2 poles and 30 odd podiums in 5+ years on Formula One and is better than Lewis as a driver. In my estimation, it isn't reasonable to say he is a candidate for GOAT since he has no WDCs and many other parameters.

Here is the ask of the thread. Who is better...Lewis or Max and provide EVIDENCE of why that is so. "I just think he is" won't get the job done.

Thread/Forum meltdown in 3, 2, 1...

Good way to settle a war of opinion. This way when others post opinion articles about who is better, you can just point back to this poll. I see the strategy in the low IQ F1 thread field. Well plaid sir.

I stay out of this, and have been watching F1 on/off for only 10+ years. Max is a great driver, but as many of the F1 threads on here have posted up in the debates between the two, statistics don't lie. HAM is the better driver.

We can see where Max compares in another 5+ years, but right now, it's not close. Not even when you compare each driver's 1st few years.

Indeed. It was getting a bit tiresome watching each thread descend into Lewis vs. Max.

Funny thing is you know I'm more of a VET fan than HAM. But, some things just become obvious as time goes on.

I like VER, but I don't think anything is guaranteed him. We've got Renault, McLaren and even Racing Point/AR all really stepping up their game. Ferrari won't be down forever. Then drivers like LEC, SAI, ALB, GAS and even RIC that could still take that next step with one of those teams. Not to mention some unnamed phenom that still hasn't been discovered. Also who knows how these rule changes are going to shake things up.

I agree with you that a performance convergence is on the horizon and I hope that we can see a real battle for the front. Which I think will still result in a HAM WDC!!

I voted max because I prefere him over lewis, obviously I don't know either of them personally but from what I see of them on telly.

The stats clearly show that lewis is the more successful driver but if they were to be team mates & both given equal standing within a team my money would be on max.

I root for everyone but HAM (or MB) to win on Sundays.

Who I or you support doesn't mean he isn't one of the greatest/if not the greatest of all time. He is obviously better than VER career vs career now.
