The extra 5 DNFs for Hamilton certainly didn't help his points tally.

Of course Button is a quality driver. So by that same logic, are you saying Max is not a quality driver, not on par with Vettel, Raikkonen, Button, given you used the statistics between Ricciardo and Max? I certainly think Ricciardo is a quality driver, I definitely rank him in my top 5. Now having said that, between him and Max NOW, I would definitely give the edge to Max.

My point is the basis of your ranking of Max, based on his years with Ricciardo, though logical, is not perfect by any means to use that as a basis of saying Hamilton is definitely superior to Max. So until they actually become team mates, all opinions are just speculations. It's when we start believing that speculations are more than what they are, then that is when it becomes fanboism.

Fans are abandoning F1 because of the no show,it's gone on too long and there will soon be a new CEO of F1 to take over from Carey as he can't handle it anymore after his short tenure.
Fia gave in too easily bringing in the hybrids back in '14 and it's gone downhill ever since then.
The other teams as you say are only turning up for the show and F1 itself is heading for extinction as even after covid the fan base will decline.
Some F1 fans that I know who were going to Silverstone for many years now won't bother anymore and their team shirts are in mothballs !

I guess what I find quite bizarre is the proposition from some that Verstappen would perform better than Hamilton in a Mercedes.
Over the decades every now and then a driver with an obvious natural ability comes into F1.
In the modern era drivers like Senna, Schumacher, Alonso and Hamilton are drivers who from the moment they got in the car they stood out...and one of the ways was by comparison with their team mates.
Its an inaccurate and flawed metric that is true...but it has held up well in most cases.
Then there are other drivers who are fast racers (such as Verstappen) who at first sight look like they might be special but lack that particular natural ability to drive constantly at the limit without overdriving and losing control.
BTW not even a Hamilton fan per se...after all the years I've been watching F1 I no longer invest in one particular driver...but I am in awe of his abilities.

We sat at Turn 4 Casino Square at the 2008 Monaco F1 GP....the first third of the race was wet....the second third was establishing the dry line....the last third was WOT (aka WFO)....of all the drivers entering Casino Square there was only one driver that did not lift at Turn 4....it was HAM and he won the race in his second yr of F1.

We are planning Monaco next year of the Corona Virus cooperates. We wanted to go for my brother's 50th but obvi it wasn't happening this year.

It's my hope to do the Spa-Monza back to back weekend, as well. Best back to back in my opinion unless Silverstone is paired with a race!!

In truth, this and many other similar incidents, are why I am enjoying this period of HAMs performance. I am enjoying this as are many other long-suffering Hamilton fans.

As an aside, McLaren coming back to Mercedes is also sweet music to my ears. Darth Dennis should have NEVER gone to Honda. He threw away a 20 or so year relationship because of a temper tantrum about MGP.

McLaren-Mercedes. The order of the universe has been restored.

5 years ago, I was in Nice on vacation with my now wife. We took a day trip to Monaco, and when I say that I walked majority of the track, and got the biggest goose bumps as I came down along the marina...Whew. Monaco is one race at the top of my bucket list, 100%.

We have single family dwellings and duplexes as investment properties in my family. I once made the mistake of becoming a partner in a 380 unit apartment complex. It was post Hurricane Katrina. I knew it wouldn't go well, in retrospect, when for the first inspection my partner asked me to bring my M4 and sidearm.

Your M4 car I presume. You can make a good choice and sometimes a bad one, thing is not to put all your eggs in one basket. We make a living out of selected tenants from an agency which is a must as they can spring into action no cost to us legal proceedings if someone stops paying rent. We never take anyone on outside agency, it's way too risky.

LOL!! No...the 380 unit. It was a nightmare.

Outside agency is the best. I had an attorney in a personal property long ago, which was the second ring of hell...agencies only after that! My parents are aging and we are slowly selling off properties.
